Supporting Parra has made me numb. I've never seen them win a GF. Been in 3 though and lost all of them. A few years ago I reached a point where I was able to not let it affect my mood. Because what's the point? Why let a sporting team dictate your mood?
Like many of us I'll admit I'm bitter that Penrith have equalled our 3peat. I'm also bitter that all these bandwagoners are celebrating a premiership while I have nothing to show for a lifetime of following parra.
While Penrith still have the drive to win their 3rd successive premiership, parra are rumoured to sign a player like Morgan Harper.....
The way this club is run is abysmal. We are the 2nd biggest CBD in NSW, have the most supporters but somehow are run like a small club. We should be competing with the big clubs.
I pray we win a comp in my lifetime but until then I'll remain numb

It's only a game of football. Don't let it consume and upset your life. The Eels will win another premiership and I have no doubt in your lifetime. Cheer up buddy, the sun ☀️ is still shining, and your still breathing. Penrith are just too good at the moment but they'll go through their slump just as the Eels have for the past decades after their 3 peat. The Eels of the 80's were still a better side than this Panthers team in my opinion but that doesn't take anything away from the brilliance of the Penrith team
If it effects you this much then its time to walk away or take a break.
I chose Parra it's my team is it a winning team? No
Will they be a winning team? No
I've accepted that I enjoy a day out at the footy with my family.
I No longer care about winning premierships the club doesn't why should we?
It's all good it's just a sport it means nothing in grand scheme of things
It doesn't affect me. That's the whole point of my post. I'll be here supporting Parra til the end
So like Pink Floyd your 'Comfortably Numb'
Yep haha. I've found peace with it a long time ago
For me in a way it is frustrating to see Penrith win three in a row because coming up to 2020, they had similar fortunes to us, I remember between 2016-2018 they made the second week of the finals and got bundled out. We did the same thing and then finally made the grand final, so did they but with them they have kicked on in a big way where as we went backwards from last season.
I'm annoyed a parramatta fan somewhere found a four leafed clover after last years GF and wished, "I wish for parra to beat penrith next year." If only they wished correctly.
I reckon you have to enjoy sport, and following a team, for what it is. It's easy to get lost in the whole quest for the holy grail (a premiership) but when you do that you cancel out so much other enjoyment that being a supporter has to offer.
The reality is Parra were in the GF last year and were beaten by what is a generational champion side - there's no shame in that - that's professional sport. Parra covered themselves in glory in 2022 - anyone who says otherwise isn't being objective.
This year was shit - but that happens - we weren't the only club to disappoint this year and there is a reasonable arguement to suggest we can improve next year. We finished the year with a win over The Panthers - no other team in the comp (including the Broncs) can make that claim :)))
I like to be like the old lady on the hill who takes her knitting to the footy. I like to enjoy each contest on a weekly basis for what it is - enjoy the victories and lament the losses. The journey will take me wherever it takes me - the journey itself is what's really important and what makes an ultimate title so special.
There's no certainties mate, not for any team, but if you don't invest in the journey you miss out on all the good stuff along the way.
There's a fairytale waiting for us just around the corner brother - hang in there :)
This is spot on Kram, hope you're well and the bike going strong
Yes Kram, you put it beautifullly, the physcology of many on here says more about themselves than the team they follow.
Can you imagine how it must feel for the Broncs supporters to have that shot to bits and then lose. I think I would be happier losing like we did last year than go through the agony of witnessing that last night.
But really as you say, that is the enjoyment of being a supporter and what a lot on here seem to miss?
My best mate is a Broncs supporter, not a tragic but a true Qlder and I was saying to him I cant imagine how you must feel.
That said being a punter as he and me are....it is like getting a huge tip for a horse and see it go to the front and kick 4 lengths clear at the furlong and you see a jockey called Cleary emerge from the ruck and sets out after you. Ha you wouldn't be dead for quids.....as it mows you down and get beaten by a nose.....you have to love the feeling and the fact that it's a great life leveller on a mini scale!
Yes Kram i think many on here that call themselves Parra supporters are "numb" but equally many are just"dumb"for the fact that you can learn as much from getting beaten as you can from winning all the time.
Final irony, I was hoping for a Broncos win, it would get it out of their system and likely slacken off even subconsciously, alternatively Penrith losing would havet aken the drive away from them worrying about winning 4 in a row.
Now we have to worry about both these buggers next year, just a little bit more! Lol
