I hope Hayne gets off

Hayne's dreams in judiciary's handsPrint- Font+ FontRSSBy Samantha Broun AAP Fri, 25 Sep 2009 22:31:22Parramatta star Jarryd Hayne had his NRL grand final hopes thrown into jeopardy just moments into Friday night's 22-12 preliminary final victory over the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium. The Dally M medallist was placed on report and conceded a shot at an eight-point try in the third minute for a dangerous contact charge after flooring Bulldogs opening try scorer Bryson Goodwin.Hayne's possible suspension would deliver the most devastating of blows to the Eels, whose impressive record of ten wins from their last 11 matches, has been ignited by the fullback's spectacular form.Hayne came flying across the in-goal, knees first with his feet tucked up behind him, as he desperately tried to stop winger Goodwin from inflicting the psychological blow of getting first points on the scoreboard.Goodwin was left groggy after feeling the full force of Hayne's knees on the back of his head and laid face down in the turf while Hazem El Masri unsuccessfully attempted the sideline conversion but nailed the penalty from in front.Bulldogs fullback Luke Patten was knocked out in the first minute by an accidental knee from Eels captain Nathan Cayless, forcing a major reshuffle to the Dogs backline.Retiring Bulldogs hero El Masri slotted into fullback and set up the Belmore club's first try."El Magic" kicked a beautifully weighted grubber to his left wing which Goodwin dived on and grounded with precision timing.Hayne appeared to be bewildered by referee Tony Archer's decision and was heard, through the match telecast, protesting that he had his feet back. The Eels hero now faces an anxious wait to learn what grading his impending charge will attract.Hayne will likely escape suspension if the offence is deemed only a grade one, as he has no carry over points at the judiciary.

  • Look, all things be equal, Hayne will probably cop a suspension. Bryce Gibbs put an accidental knee into Burt's back and got suspended. The thing in our favour is it's GF week and Hayne's the Dally M medallist.
    • If Jonathan Thurston can kick someone in the face during the origin series and not see any time on the sideline, then I expect to see Jarryd Hayne in the final.
  • he should be fine it looked worse in slow motion and he did pull his nee's back
  • The difference between the Gibbs incident and the Hayne incident is that Hayne was going for a rolling/bouncing ball, whereas Gibbs kneed Burt in the back who was running with the ball in hand, (in possession).
    There is a big difference.
Tony Archer is an absolute joke of a referee.
  • But what would happen to the "Hayne Train"?

    • LOL!
  • Mnay people will be watchin the GF to see the Dally M player in action; they wouldnt deprive themselves of sumfing thats good for the games ratings etc
    • The game is ruled by sports-tab these days anyway...whatever will get more money coming in will determine the result....

...but God I hope he gets off

Refereeing was a joke again_but we have proven ourselves through adversity for the last few months so whatever happens THIS IS OUR YEAR BOYS AND GIRLS!
  • The Chosen One was not chosen to sit out a Grandfinal. Destiny awaits him.
  • I reckon he will cop a grade 1 for sure. That way the judiciary looks like it's not playonig favourites, but also keeps him in the GF.

"The chances of him being our 6 next year are very low, if he was a serious consideration he would be playing 6 now with dylan at centre. I'll be very surprised if he is our starting 6 next season unless he gets a lot more time there this season. "

"I think Joash is a good player, but from what I've seen only at fullback or on the wing. Those positions we've got pretty well covered, so I guess he's a great back up option. I'd like to see him in 1st grade, but I dont know how he fits in?"
