I thought the story on origin was more interesting. TV viewers down again despite what some argued in previous blog. Over half a million viewers lost since 2016 game 1.
There is no doubt the game has gone backwards, not only state of origin but the game in general. Poor refereeing and perceived bias to certain clubs/players is driving fans away. The line speed of some teams in defence is super natural for them to be up in the defences face before the first receiver has even caught the ball and forward passes are something that only teams mid table or below throw.
There is also talk ponga is after contract upgrade. If so where is the reward for Newcastle taking a massive gamble on him on huge money. The NRL have to fix the refereeing and player managers control over clubs or it won't just be origin that sees massive drop in viewers
