The Black Eyed Peas sat at number one with this shit party anthem.

The iPhone 3 was the latest smartphone on every dork's wishlist.

A brand new Toyota Corolla looked like this;

It was September 2009 and The Parramatta Eels were competing in and winning semi final matches. We should have savoured the moment alot more than what we did, because it hasn't happened since.

Come 1st January next year our "great' club will have gone a full decade without actually winning a semi final match. Not that surprising really considering we have only actually been in 2 semi final matches in the last 3500 (approx.) days.

It's so pathetic that it's laughable and thus I would like to impart some friendly advice to my 1EE mates:

If you're hurting and the constant failure is starting to adversely impact you, your life, your family or whatever, turn off the emotional switch and give the club and game a wide berth. The Parramatta club doesn't deserve your respect at the moment and you owe them nothing. They don't deserve your hard earned money either - be it in ticket sales, merchandise or dollars spent at their leagues club.

Give the club a wide berth. Spend time doing other things that you enjoy and that give you fulfillment. The club doesn't deserve your support and, to be honest, you probably have better things to do with your time.

Should they ever regain any form of credibility feel free to support them again, but until that time arrives (and it won't be any time soon) don't waste any further energy on them.

This "great" club is now a brittle shell of what it once was. I cherish my 1989 Peter Sterling testimonial port and worship past legends, but I have nothing but contempt for the current administration, players and coach - they all lack genuine substance and ability and don't deserve to be associated with the revered jersey once worn by the likes of Price, Sterling, Kenny, The Mayor and so many other greats.

I'll still hang around on 1EE a bit for the banter and the good company but I won't be wasting my time with this football club until they can start producing something that we can be proud of.

I've got better things to do.

  • Tonight was definitely hard to swallow. I think it'll be the tipping point for more than a few fans.

  • Reading the comments on the parra FB page your not the only one. It has been 10 long years of being the shittest club in the comp.

  • I remember when we made the grand final in 2009 I thought that we would kick on in the coming years and could build a team that could make the finals consistently like in the Brian Smith era but I was wrong.  I even remember in 2010 we were one of the favourites to win it!!.

After years of ridicule by other fans, media, other players and clubs I thought that 2017 was a turning point but yet again that was another false dawn.  The 2018 season was worse than 2012 and 2013 and all that hard work and respect we earned was gone.

Now that I live in England I only get to listen to the games through the radio or the highlights but sometimes I have woken up quite early to listen in and then I think why did I bother?.  I think also that supporting Parramatta has affected my mood and relationships with people in the past.  Like a lot of other people I am going to try and not be emotionally invested at all until we see year in year out improvement.

  • I went to the magic round the other week but walked out in disgust the moment Sivo was binned. By the time I was half way home on the train I was over it and moved on.

2661283940?profile=RESIZE_930xKram, here's my hot lap from yesterday morning. I've been fine tuning my bike set up and think I've got it nailed now. You been watching the Giro? I've just seen each days highlights on youtube. Roglic looks the goods. I saw one of the stages has 5000 metres vertical elevation in climbing - that's insane!!!

    • After the game last night i just sat there, shattered and dumbfounded. How did we become such a bad, ugly football team. Gee we looked and played like a team of misfits. Where to from here because we are rock bottom.

Bellamy and Bennett together couldn,t fix this team that BA has built.

      • Graham I think it's easy and convenient to blame the coach when a team plays like shit, bundle it all up and pin it on him. I'm no footy expert but the loss of Dylan Brown has been huge for us. We looked exactly how we should be playing. It looked like the team were executing the game plan to a tee in those early games in which he played. Since he has gone we look frazzled and an absolute rabble. Moses obviously isn't up to it on his own and needs a partner with a lot more composure. Who would have thought our hopes are reliant on an 18 year old kid.

I have been thinking for a while a question that was asked the other day in regards to the number of polynesian players we have in our side and do we have the balance right there?

It's important to have something else as an outlet. At times I find it comical to come on here after a loss and read the way in which people carry on.

    • Jeez that's a pretty hot hot lap mate :) . Was that on your own or did you have company? That's a smoking average! How does the TCR feel now that you've got it sorted? Such a great frame.

Yeah I've been following the Giro - mostly on the youtube daily stage highlights like you, but it's been great. Really happy to see Caleb take 2 sprint stages, he looks really strong at the moment. I can't see anyone getting near Roglic either the way he looks at the moment - he reminds me of Sagan at his peak - looks to have everything under complete control. The hills are upon us now so the coming days should be awesome.

I'm doing a 100 miler tomorrow - can't wait to get out in the crisp air and blow some of the Eels related blues out of my head.

Cheers mate - have a great weekend :)

      • All my rides are on my own, I haven't ridden with anyone else since I was a teenager (25 years ago) when I was a member at Lismore cycling club. The bike feels great, I got a bike fit done back in January when I bought it which put me on the right track. The fitter said I could make a few changes which I have done and am happy with it now.

It is fitted with a dual sided power meter and I had a discrepency between my left to right outputs (maybe 60% left side dominant - which is weird because I feel like my right leg does the majority of the work and tires first). So I've been been trying as much as possible to equalise that through changing the bike set up and cleats and consciously trying to use my right leg more. I've got it to an acceptable difference now.

Roglic is surprising on those time trials, his team look like they have things under complete control but I guess anything can happen. Yeah I've been waiting for the mountain stages, I read they have to clear the snow from one of the mountain passes.

100 miler wow - I hope the weather is as good for you down there as it is up here at the moment. Enjoy the day mate and let us know how you go, I'd be knackered after that.

        • That's interesting about the power meter Ads. I reckon most blokes feel that they have a higher output (or feel stronger) on one leg over the other but I've never really talked to anyone about what the actual measured difference is. I dont have a power meter but deff feel stronger in my left leg. Do you reckon that getting things to actually equalise as much as possible has actually increased your performance, or comfort? I rate comfort right up the scale on maximising performance so I'd be interested to know whether you feel as comfortable on the bike as you did before making the changes . . .
