Given Nathan Hindmarsh is departing as well as likely Shane Shackleton, I find it hard to believe we won't pick up one or at least two second rowers and I feel very strongly we're missing a really top class, proven edge runner, and that's pretty apparent for everyone to see.
So I'm going to keep my unicorn-horn rimmed glasses on, and believe these is a trump card that is going to be played. Problem is I can't figure out who the hell it might be? Manu was my last shot.
I've looked through the English Super League, I've thought about other codes and I just can't think of any player, outside of Williams who might fit the bill. And I keep getting told we've never even spoken to him. Maybe a player on contract at another club, who might for some reason be looking for release?
My brain is hurting. Can anyone come up with a theory outside of Williams?

Been mentioned twice over a few months on NRL Rumors that we are keen to get Jeremy Smith from Cronulla.
I read that Cronulla were not expecting Topou to act on an option in his favour and perhaps that see's the shark's needing to shop Smith around?
I wouldn't mind Smith, as long as he doesn't cost us too much. How is Glen Morrison going at Super League?
I believe Smith was also linked to us last time he was off contract, but ended up signing with Cronulla. Pretty sure he's still contracted for next season but I'd have him in the side in a second. Tough, aggressive and knows how to find the line.
why dont we look at importing a couple of young tough pommy second rowers........? do any of you guys see the super league much to suggest a few names.

It is strange.. generally anyone who is 'available' is shopped around the media by their agents. Or at least shopped around to other clubs, resulting in it leaking to the media.
We even heard about the likes of Graham going to Bulldogs long before it actually happened.

What's your take on a player like Chris Houston, Joel Edwards, Ukuma Ta'ai or Jake Marketo, Phil?
A few back-rowers that are off-contract at season's end for their respective teams.
None of them are really attacking second rowers except for maybe Marketo, but being a rookie, meh.
Edwards would be alright.

I think Lussick may be an option as a number 12? He has the aggression, size, speed and footwork if Nolan and Kearney are confident they could make use of him a little wider. Loko might be a wild-card depending on how is physique is after the off-season.

locked in. Jeremy Smith at 13 might be a good option (if he really will break contract?).
A possibility may be Ukuma Tai (sp?) from the Warriors? Taumololo should have been ideal. I don't reckon we have the cap space to pay 600k for a second rower which is why i'm not surprised we dropped out of the running for T-Rex (as much as i would have loved to have him).
Gavin Cooper would be a cheap signing who would get the job done as well if we're desperate.
Edit: Just read Ricky's comment, Houston or Edwards would also be decent signings imo.
