Hypothetical scenario, Jason Taumalolo Do you take him?

So before i start, this is hypothetical, do not take it as factual or even myself saying it should happen. Yes i asked a question in my title and i will answer it but it is a question for the readers.

With that out of the way, JT is looking at getting out of Townsville and North Queensland are keen on cutting ties, it seems ASAP. The Cowboys are considering a pay out to move him on. With his contract no team is going to continue that contract further so it is either a pay out or bare with him.

So the question i have is, would you take him at Parramatta if you are running the club? Now do we need him? of course not we have a great middle of RCG, Paulo and Brown. JT on his day is better than all of them, but that is the key word "on his day". Would JT be worth a risk? absolutely, it is never a mistake to add talent. Granted based on years you get him for. 1 year or 2 years? absolutely.

Issue seems to be injuries and perhaps attitude for JT. North Queensland would be happy it seems to let him go, but for what cost with trades becoming a thing of late in the NRL. Parramatta would not do it, JT's profile is not the player Parramatta go for, not being smart or funny with that it is true, with a few exceptions (Hodgson) they buy players on the way out who need some uplifitng.

So, hypothetically if you were offered JT as Parramatta GM would you grab him if so what would you be willing to give up? For me, i would only grab him if he is a free agent on say a one to two year deal max. I would not trade away anybody, unless it is say Papa or Niukore as they are leaving (nah not really haha). I prefer RCG, Paulo and Brown as we know exactly what we are getting.

Before you abuse me for a nothing blog, do not read it, it is that simple. People here should know by now the type of blogs i write and the title would give it away so that gives you a hint to not continue. This is more so getting others points of view of what others think of JT and if he is still considered the best forward in the competition.

  • If parra could get him for half the price he is on now a big yes. Reality is though he will go for big bucks so no from me. Imagine him and Brown swapping over half way through the half. Be a great combination. He will go to the roosters, broncos, or storm would be my guess.

    • Even JT on an edge would be an upgrade.

  • LB, where are you hearing he wants out at the moment? Has something come up recently?

Personally, would take him in a heartbeat. We only have to think back to 2020 & JT was the best forward in the game. I'd have him as lock and bring N Brown off the bench.

But the biggest issue would obviously be the cost? Could see a lot of teams offering him big $. Also, he doesnt strike me as someone who would live in Sydney if he had an offer from a Dolphins / Broncos / Storm / Warriors - Thats based on zero fact, just get that impression.

    • I could be wrong but i thought i read something before he was looking at moving on, but perhaps it is just North Queensland.

But you just hit the nail on the head i think Nightmare, The Dolphins would be no.1 landing spot.

      • Yes Dolphins probably with Melbourne a wild card . Have to be a team weaker than Eels with their forward pack as well as spare salary cap ability . Eels do not seem to fit either category.

  • its a no from me - i think the way the game is played now, it has passed him by. Fabulous player in his prime but he seems to be just making up the numbers over the last season or two.

if the cowboys were serious about sorting their salary cap problems out maybe valentine should be the one do something with.

  • But is he better than our starters ?

  • What's the bet the Roosters release some neville (like Sitili Tupouniua) to free up the funds for Payne Haas and JT?

    • Yep .. JWH is 33 this year, there will be some changes soon.
