Hypothetical Question

If Parramatta never existed at all as a club but considering most of us would of still played/watched the game anyway, who would you of gone for in that alternate reality?, taking into factors such as other family members who go for other teams, maybe an area you lived in for a long time where another team plays, factors like that.

  • Pre-1947 the Parramatta district was part of Western Suburbs. Maybe they would have been a much stronger club if Parramatta never formed. I reckon they would have based themselves in Parramatta eventually.

    • What a lot of people forget is Wests were based at Ashfield for 60 years before moving anywhere. If Parramatta didn't exist they would of been a super club maybe, they would of had the lionshare of territory stretching all the way from Parramatta down to Campbelltown.
  • St George Dragons - that's who Dad supported.

I change to the Eels in 78 cause my brother inlaw was an eels supporter and took me to games.

didn't mind the steelers either being from the gong.

    • The year after you changed teams they won in 1979.
  • When I was 5 it was a choice between Parra or Penrith...

  • Wests then Penrith - it was a lot more tribal when I was growing up. Next to no-one went for outside area teams unless they were Dragons or Souffs. There were a very small number of Canterbury fans but I still have no idea why.

  • I credit my oldest brother with making me a parra supporter, so you would have to ask him what he would have done if they never existed.

  • Back when I was a boy (I always begin my dissertations to young'uns like that) Wests would have been my local team if Parra didn't exist, so them, MAGPIES not Tigers, also same motif as my home town Wenty

  • My father grew up in Hurstville and his whole family are Dragons fans, my mothers side were all Wests fans until the Eels were founded, so not sure.

  • Roosters, I was a roosters fan when I was 8-9 years old but not a die hard, changed to eels in 76 when I moved to the area. If my dad had stuck around instead of being a dead beat I would probably be a Souths fan as he played lower grades for Souths and is a die hard fan.
