Huge problem!

At this stage the Eels have one of, if not the weakest bench in the comp. Injuries and suspensions can't be helped. Players being paid overs resulting in poor depth can be fixed over time.  In my opinion the Eels have plenty of work to do regarding their cap. Moses getting 1 million plus will cause further problems.

  • How do we know it's a weak bench? It never gets used

From what I've seen thus far,  I can't see the Eels winning before round 6 and even that game will be difficult. Round 6 is easter Monday against the Tigers and they usually lift for that game.  After the Tigers the Eels play the Bulldogs and they also cause the Eels problems.  After that the Eels are away to the Broncos. The Eels could possibly find themselves 0 from 8.

  • Our poor Salary Cap management is becoming evident now, our bench is a clear indicator of this, the Reserve Grade result reflects this too.

Moses and Brown are on too much money for what they offer, neither of these have that match winning instinct that a Latrell or Munster have, they are the types of players that should be on superstar money.

If last night was anything to go off, I'd rather Trindall as our halfback on $500k a season than Moses on $1.2mill a season.

Where are our juniors??? Is our recruitment that poor in this area or are they being neglected?

I have a question.  Who thinks the Eels have a better chance of winning a premiership with Moses on a million plus per season or if they used that million plus dollars on a "super coach", Wayne Bennett for example?

      • I don't think we have enough depth or quality across the park for another coach to come in and have immediate success.

Certain coaches have the ability to attract players willing to take unders. These coaches also encourage current players to stay without paying overs. This is why the same clubs and coaches remain successful for long periods of time.  Remember, 3 4 or 5 players in your top squad getting $100,000 or more in overs results in players 11 to 30 being lesser quality.  This is the reason the Eels have the bench they have at the moment.  Some other clubs have state of origin quality players on the bench and the Eels have reserve grade players, (and not the top line or players that dominate reserve grade).
