Historically we never land big name players because historically we're a below average team. Players want to play to win. Elite smart players don't want to be part of a 'rebuild', they want to be surrounded by other elite players and coaches.
The aura Ryles had in his first season is starting to wear off. That little bit of hope that came with him has defaulted back to utter hopelessness..
So if you were the coach or management, hiow would you go about attracting good players? What would your sell be?

You need to pay overs to get a marquee player for a start and then also get better assistant coaches to the club former players from winning clubs.. Roosters Panthers Storm You need winners...
Though we have seen just cause they are coaching at top clubs that they will succeed leaving. I agree better assistants but not always from top clubs either.
The Dragons have no coach and are likely wooden spooners yet they have signed 5 representative level players for 2027. They have achieved this because they opened the chequebook and gave the players what they wanted ($).
Until the Parramatta front office starts matching the market, they will never land a marquee player.
We're going to have to pay overs for 1 or 2 great talents and use that as the momentum builder or we have to uncover Hayne 2.0 in our junior ranks.
The Knights are paying for both Brown and Ponga to turn their fortunes. The Tigers and Bulldogs both threw cash at big players to turn their recruitment around.
Unfortunately for us Moses isn't enough of a drawcard anymore despite being our highest paid player. We have spent years trying to manufacture one but lightning only strikes so often and our juniors don't look anything like "once in a generation" talent so I think we're going to have to be very smart and throw the chequebook at 2 players who make headlines by coming here and figure out how to make the salary cap fit it all in.
Our once in a generation talent could be Lorima Seuseu but he is only 16 years old so I am probably saying it way to early.
Surely we are due a superstar outside back to come through our pathways. Have we really only had Penisini and Russell come through the past 5 years?

we actually do a decent job with pathways and development tbh, the problem is they surround these young players with no classy nrl level players haha. The young guys we have coming up are good.
Oh god. I mean you don't want to go too overboard might scare them off with desperation.
The main thing I would put forward more than anything is be the face of breaking the drought. Be the start of breaking the draught. If you join, others will to. It will be because of you. If you win a title here it is your name in legacy forever. Not just at this club but in the NRL forever. You will be a god.
I would also offer co-captaincy and mention the plans but more so preach what their legacy would be winning a comp. They can be the difference. Make the big name feel as if they are the one and only, they are the difference they are important.
