Sooo , for all the money men , I am going to Thailand in a few weeks and would like to know if I should be stamping over children in my local shopping centre to convert my cash NOW ?Understanding that even if the Thai Baht drops from the current rate of 24 to 23 I only lose about $40 in every $1000 converted but let's just say it drops to say 20 or 19 then it could mean 5 or 6 hundred bucks over my trip. So are we gunna see a huge drop in the AUD over the next few days or am I going into panick mode ? It could be the difference between eating Lobster and getting a daily Oil body slide to eating street food and a mere foot rub.

    • Thanks Benno , hope you're correct . just to be safe I just ordered $1000 bucks worth online @ a rate of 24.8 THB so I'm hedging my bets both ways .

The Mrs is having an operation in Phuket and you have to pay for it before you leave Aus and I paid the bill week before last at a rate of 26 THB and the total for the ops about 12K so I'm cheering so far for getting in early . The company she's using to arrange the op are currently at 23.6 THB .
  • While on this subject, I am going to the Uk and Europe in September and not sure how it is going to affect the exchange rate on the $AUD.

    Any insight would be helpful.
  • What the f**k are you going to Thailand for Wiz?

    Hang on - - - - - don't answer that :D

There will be a sharp drop over the next few days, but it will stabilise over the next couple of weeks at the most - might be even quicker. There's even a school of thought that the Oz will actually fare very well. The whole Brexit thing is gonna actually take about 10 years to finalise anyway.

I reckon you are lookin' at about a 5% loss/gain at the most.

Probably more pertinent to make sure that all your shots and health insurance are in order ;)

    • We leave 25th July , back on 10th August the Mrs is having an operation mate and I've been given a hall pass whilst she's recovering :) any members here in Patong between these dates ?

  • Watch for any movement during the week either side of the election.

Usually $AUD drops marginally until the smoke of the election clears.

Libs in prob no major - Labor in could see $AUD drop.

  • Look out Thailand!!

  • Intersting !!!  What kind of operation? Knee replacement or a pair of bolt ons?

    • Haha , well she isn't needing her knees replaced ...... Yet
      • Sounds like you're not doing it right.
