It's our biggest weakness and has been exposed again and again. 3 tries we let in from there and they were jogging past us with ease. Would have been 4 had Mannering off-loaded just before half time.

Are the players weak defenders? Have they not gelled yet to move up and accross as a unit? Do we need to get MJ or Taka on that side?

It's a real cause of concern because the Warriors only on one occasion attacked our left side. The opposition teams seeing this weakness will belt us there.

  • Marker defence. often three in the tackle and still cat get marker in position. Player can't get back to their feet.

  • It's weird that injuries forced our left side backrower to move to right side centre and our defence actually improved on that side.
  • Maybe a solution would be playing an extra player on the right side if the opposition is going to keep attacking us there.

  • I hate to say it but I can't see a solution arriving anytime soon. I'm sure BA has some ideas (after all he is paid to coach), but realistically the only way we could prevent annialation down that edge is to give away penalties and re-set our defence. Roosters did it to counteract some of their defensive deficiencies a few years ago.
  • As Tassie Eel said it all comes down to slack marker defence and dominating the tackles. That mannering try the warriors created an overlap down our right simply by beating our markers. Looking back at this try this wasn't Moses fault at all it was Matagi who was meant to be on mannering. The thing that worries me most about Moses is that he seems to come to fast up of the line meaning the defensive line isn't straight. If he can fix that I think it will be much improved.. also give Scott more minutes as he definitely helps when he is on. As well as Moeroa is playing, he can also be a bit lazy in defence at times.
  • I think our best defensive game was against the cowboys. Tep was awesome that day. I know there was no Moses, but still a good blueprint.
