I have just watched a replay on Foxtel of a Parra/Manly game from 1991. It is unreal to see how quickly player incomes have increased when after each try was scored the players name , occupation and junior club was displayed .Occupations such as student, cellarman ,electrician and maybe even a garbo. And the precious little things reckon they are not getting enough out of the game today? I reckon some of the old heads fallen on hard times would like to explain to them how good they do have it.

I still think they are underpaid today......they arguably were back in the day as well ......but in those days they didn't know what they are facing now.
Bus Drivers get paid over a 100k now, what's more dangerous. the very top NRL players are not well paid at the highest level in terms of most other professional sports. (or maybe I should say many other professional sports).
What a load of crap. Those "precious little things" work every bit as hard as those so called heads.
Cant agree. In what is likely one of the most brutal contact sports a professional athelete can play and every possibility there could be health repercussions in the future they deserve every cent they get and more.....
It's not a contact sport, it's a collision sport. But yes, you're absolute right.
I just watched eels vs saints 1982. Swinging arms and cheap sots in every tackle almost..
Interesting how often they used run arounds to create deceipt and make space in the 5m ruck.
Great to watch.
