How The Eels Risk Botching Their Golden Resurgence

I found this on Sporting News - Written by Dean Ritchie

Must say that i agree with his article, and now considering the club has withdrawn their offer to Gutherson "out of respect" is this because he wants to know Arthurs furture at the club first. I think so.

Come on Parra Board get your bloody act together. - Experts accross the NRL say how good Arthur is and even most of his players say the same, we now have one of our  best not signing and waiting.

We all know Gutherson " King Gutho" is a keeper, we made him our captain, his enthusiasm, his leadership, his footy skills would be terribly missed.

Freddy Fittler and  Andrew Johns have both publicly stated how good Moses has been and  can be. The first  " Freddy" thinks highly enough to, continually invite him to NSW origin train on squads

Dylan Brown has shown tremendous footy talent and brains for an 18 year old, with the Warriors recently offering him $3m to switch clubs.

Come on Parra - pull your finger out and lets get this done now.

The Eels risk botching their bold resurgence by sitting on their hands over the futures of head coach Brad Arthur and three key players - Clint Gutherson, Mitch Moses and Dylan Brown.

Moses and Gutherson - two in-form players in an unbeaten side - come off contract after this season and are free agents right now.

Gutherson is waiting to see if and when Arthur is retained. Moses wants to establish himself as the club's premier playmaker before sitting down to negotiate.

It seems no-one is in any rush. But Parra should be wary other clubs are starting to discuss Gutherson and Moses. Allowing one, or both, to walk out would be disastrous for a team rebuilding strongly.
Brown is only two games into his first grade career but this kid is a ten-year NRL player. He comes off contract after next season so is also a free agent from November 1.
Clubs are already circling the youngster. Sign him now, Parra. Rising hooker Reed Mahoney is also a free agent from November 1.
If the Eels continue to sit on their hands, Parramatta risks losing a chunk of their impressive new-look spine.
And what about Arthur?
He is also off contract after this season. He took the Eels to a top four finish in 2017 before, admittedly, enduring a horrid 2018.
But even after two rounds, I am prepared to say Arthur is the man to lead Parramatta into the future. End the speculation, end the whispering, re-sign him now.
Parramatta has won two from two and look a top eight side, possibly even top six or top four. A new stadium only adds to the excitement building in Sydney's golden west.
I just hope Parramatta don't delay nailing down their star players and coach.
Get it done now before it's too late - or the bright new future could become dark very quickly.

  • It's Parramatta.... What else would u expect??!?!?!!?!!

  • After a wooden spoon and now in his 5th season BA wouldn’t be expecting an extension this soon. I’m sure the club would love to extend BA, they just want him to get the team back on track first. Totally fair enough.

Its been handled well imo. Very clearly and reasonably.

  • The club is doing the right thing IMO, we’ll get a much better idea where the team and coach is at by about round 6-8.  Beat a woeful Penrith and an absolutely legless Dogs team.  Wait till we have played a few of the top sides till we go resigning the coach or any of the players.

    • Yep, spot on.

  • Yep i can understand peoples hesitation with Brad Arthur and all that has gone on, my personal thoughts are to resign him but, I also know that we will be brought back to earth after the Roosters game.  The club still needs to find ways to keep Gutherson, sign Brown and i believe Mitch can develop and  be the halfback we have been after.

  • Gutherson, himself said, he wants to wait to see what happens with BA. I think it was on the episode of Inside The NRL.

He said, something along the lines of, he has a close bond with him.

  • OH FFS you Muppets,

PAR for the course article from respective managers and so callelled jurno's

Brad is gone..take that as a given.

Both Dylan Brown and Reed are sign sealed and will be delivered in around 2 to 3 months time..( at our convinience)

    Calm the FCUK down people

    • Did you mean to be so rude.

    • Yeh .. nah

  • It only has to take 1 or 2 losses for all this BA sentiment to turn the other way. I agree don't wait too long to make a decision but the hype is getting a bit silly after only 2 wins.
