How many eels players are in the top 3 in their position.

Two years ago I posted that Parramatta only had 1 player in the top 3 in their position in the comp. That player was Junior Paulo. I have a strong Rorters supporter as a friend and he was amazed that we could finish in the finals with the team that we had and was more shocked that we made the Grand Final with pretty much the same side.  Looking at the NRL team of the year you would swear we finished outside the 8 and yet we played in the GF. Rorters who finished below us had 3 and Panthers also had 3. Parramatta had 0. At the end of last year how many players would you say that we have in the top 3 in their position and name them?

  • Moses, Brown, Paulo. u can argue Shaun Lane & RCG also

    • I think that depends on weather Cherry Evans is a better 1/2 as much as I do not like Manly he probably is at this stage so Moses is I think is number 4. Which makes sense when you look at State of Origin selections.

      • I'd take Moses over DCE.

They're both high quality, but, I like Moses' speed over DCE and he's only going to get better.

DCE is probably smarter at present - as is Adam Reynolds. But, the best half in the comp is Frankenstein and any recruiter knows he's off the market. The next best option is definitately Mitch - so it makes sense that he should be in the top 3 in his positition.

Can I say this - MM is worth $1.2m per season, but, if garbage like the Tigers and Dogs can pay more, what the fuck are we doing?

I'll put it out there - I am not a fan of Mark O'Neil and his recruitment regime.

This should have gotten done some time ago.

Find a rich benefactor - just like the Dogs and Tigers do - and pump an extra $500k into MM's salary package.

You guys might not like hearing that, but, that's exactly what he's being offered by the Tigers and Dogs. I can't understand why we, as powerful a club as we are, can't match that with our corporate wherewithal!

If we lose MM - and personally I don't think we will - that would be the reason why. And if that is the case, corporate strategy needs to be called into question.

    • Papalli.

  • Moses, Brown, maybe Paulo.

  • Sivo, Moses and Brown

Interesting we had  no players named in the NRL Dally M Team of the Year yet we made the GF go figure

    • Yeah, but that team was based on Dally M votes. We spread it around

  • No offense intended, but your friend doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Surprised that we made finals?... Umm we have one of the best forward pack in the game and one of the best halfs pairings as well.

    • Tru dat. Be interesting to do a comparison of the 2022 Roosters and Eels rosters, player for player...

      • Yep, I'd take both our halves over theres.
