How long before we see Big Wiremu Grieg

Does anyone know if we will introduce the "lets just call him a kid for age sake" Big Big Grieg, I would love to see him come on for 15 or so in the first half and maybe 20 depending on how we're going.

Any news???

  • HH, watched him closely on the weekend.   He has a good motor and made multiple hits up. I think he over did it and the quality of tthe runs fell off  as he increased the number of hit uips.  He has good feet and post contact metres are good. I sought likened him to a fit Andrew Fifita .   Reckon BA will give him 4 good hit outs in the Reggies before he is slotted inrto side gradually at 20-21 and the n possible coverage for Junior at Origin and when inuries kick in.

  • I saw him last week on TV playing in the Canterbury Cup

  • Paul Taylor your observation of Grieg was spot on and I have to totally agree with how you say he should be introduced 💪💪💪👍👍👍

    • Coryn, I agree re the Kilo's as it really shows with his stomach, he could do with some weight lose and perhaps some conditioning work before he's ready for the NRL.

    • And need a hair cut badly

  • Parramatta v St George Canterbury cup 1 o'clock Sunday Foxtel again on TV this week how good is it.

  • Looking like he's jumped Hollis and Hughes. Once he gets fit enough he could get a shot in a month or two depending on who's available

  • The difference for Greig compared to say Hollis and Hughes is simply age and experience.
Greig has had two years of training for reserve grade, he is 21 turning 22 so his body has stopped developing, developed strength over playing more games than Hollis and Hughes in reserve grade. Greig playing 50 mintues on Monday was exactly what was needed as it showed Arthur he is willing to play big minutes, in QLD Cup he was averaging 40 minutes a game starting.

Hollis and Hughes would be ready by mid 2022, Greig is ready now or mid 2021, Arthur always sets goals for his rookies to meet before selection, i reckon for Greig big minutes would be first.

  • I'm excited by this bloke. He's immediately jumped to the top of our middle forwards yet to debut. He could definitely play NRL tomorrow no problem. But unless needed, he's better off playing longer minutes in reserves and increasing his match fitness. I've no doubt that when he's called upon for NRL he'll go really well. Our bench at the end of year could be downright scary.

    • How long has he been signed for?    In what I saw of him last Saturday, he showed ability but also showed he need to drop some weight more so the gut, which seemed soft.  While he was pretty much thrown in without much time to fit in with the team and other players, I think he was no better or worse than Hollis as he ran pretty much the same as Hollis.

The worst with these players is when there are the snippet clips from some matches that show some tries and other highlights of the player in games, mainly in reserves, while they make for good exciting short segments I think some degree of care in placing him in too high an estimation of his game.  Looking at the likes of Makatora who I felt was the best forward in the eels team, and Hollis did his work ok as well.  At the moment I think he adds to the team but time will tell.
