How good was the ref.

Last week I wrote a post that talked about the ref falling to police the play the ball. In particular the speed of the play the ball and the 10 meters. I must say that this weeks ref  did a great job with this and penalised and or gave 6 again on a regular basis. I watched this game live and it was actually great. So well done ref. Parramatta lost for one reason and one reason only which was errors. People have mentioned Blake but in reality his mistake was at the end and under pressure but his defence is much improved. Clearly if Russell was not injured we win the game. His replacement was simply not match ready and should probably have played in reserves for a few more weeks. But that is easy said in hindsight. While Parramatta lost this one there where actually a quite a few positives. Our sliding defence was actually very good and it was players inside falling for dummies that caused most of the problems. We missed a couple of one on ones in the forwards. What does concern me this year is the injuries that we have had and without just a couple of these we would have been 2-0 rather than 0-2. Most important though is well reffed.

  • I did miss saying one thing though regarding the video ref. Firstly why no sin bin for the tackle on Gutho and similar on the tackle on Moses after the try which should have been a classic 8 point try.

    • I think both the Gutherson and Moses ones were boarderline. At first glance with both I thought yup , here's a penalty , on second glance I put myself in the shoes of the opposition and thought , what if that were our player that was the defender and decided I'd think they were both passable as accidental.

The Moses one I was a little embarrassed for Mitch. It was a little bit of a tap at best and he got up like he'd just been hit by Iron Mike Tyson in his heyday. I'm sure it may have been harder than it looked , but he looked like a bit of a sook.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt .

But yes , we've seen similar get pulled up and scrutinised more.  I guess the lesson here is this ref won't stand for cunts playing for penalties . Breath of fresh air as long as he stays consistent.

I will say with the Gutherson one , it should've been looked at harder if they were going to put him off for a HIA , rule should be that any contact with the head means the tackler gets sent off for as long as our players off. If he doesn't return then either does their player.

      • The issue is that tonight an accidental shoulder broke the jaw of a player. The player was sin binned. With Gutherson his jaw could just as easily been broken. It is up to the defender to ensure he does not hit the head of the player being tackled. There where no excuses as Gutherson was not falling. The contact was high and forceful. In the broken jaw case the player just held his ground. A player in this instance should spend equal time off to the player he took out. I will be interested to see the match review committees opinion.

  • I din't think the Gutho one had any contact with the head. That being the case why was he sent from the feild. Massive loss for our team and changed the game. If there was contact with the head then the Sharks player should of also gone.

  • Totally agree. It was a far better game to watch apart from our putrid defence than wrestle mania in round 1. I just hate the way Klein referees. My ranking of refs is as follows

    1 Todd smith

    2 Gerard sutton

    3 Adam gee

    999999 Ashley Klein

10987654332889 Grant let me suck off Cleary Atkins

    • I would love to know the penalty and 6 again count last night as well as the play the ball speeds. Does anyone have these.
