How do you think Madge would have gone with Parra ?

Remember Madge was also in the running for the eels job ? I wonder how that would have turned out ? 😂 seems like he's a coach who needs top tier stars to be any good so probably would have ended badly 😂

  • We would be screwed

He walked a star studded side and was able to add hunt to the mix

He needs to coach sides that are able to be above the cap , souths and now broncos

    • You do realise he blooded a lot of Souths players right? This talk that he had a great roster at Souths is false.

  • Madge needs an origin level squad to be successful....it would of been "Tales of Parra Town" with our squad....JR is more suited to our developing team way more IQ then Madge...

    • Im guessing Madge would have kept gutho and rcg and maybe added some more older players 😂 would have been a disaster most likely

    • Look at Souths GF team, he developed them.

  • I think Maguire is a good coach but throughout his career he's usually worked with some very talented players at South Sydney, New South Wales and now Brisbane. Even in England he was with Wigan who are usually one of the best teams with the best players. The only time it went sour was at Wests where I think a lot of people would have failed as well. Maguire didn't have the best squad to work with at Wests and obviously the players didn't buy into what he wanted.

    • Wests in general are the issue. It's not a place people would want to go to. Ryles apparently said to his manager he would crawl through glass to get Eels job. Would he for Tigers job?

      • That probably says more about the fit between Ryles and Parra. He knew that his plan would work here, and he used the club's strengths to get better results. I get the feeling that the other prospective coaches couldn't convince the club in this regard.

Madge is a good coach, but I don't know that we would be in the same position as we are in now with a different coach.

        • Agree, Ryles saw something and took a risk. The allure for someone like that is "can I be the one who breaks the drought".

Madge would make us fitter and harder. I reckon we are better than 15th but the issue with Madge who I've defended is he has a shelf life. Would he have the time to turnover the roster at a pace to win a comp before he goes stale at the joint?

  • I remember he turned us down .
