How do we create a fair draw?

The fight for the last spots in the top 8 is always tight with for and against or a single win usually the difference. This and the new tv deal got me back to thinking about how unfair a draw can be for certain teams. Like everyone here I would like to have a home and away setup were we play every team twice, but unless we reduce the amount of teams this will not happen. I would like to hear everyones thoughts on how to try and make the draw fair but keeping the number of, rounds and teams similar.The only thing I can think of is to have two conferences. They are made up from results of the previous years table. So conference 1 will have Teams that finished 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15 and the other 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16. You play teams in your conference twice and the other once. This would elimate the possibility of some teams playing the previous years top 4 all twice and add some sort of transparency and fairness to the draw. The points table though would not be split in conferences.I would like to hear your thoughts on this or other ideas.

take 4 pieces of 6" high timber, nailed together at the ends into a square. cut a piece of ply to cover one side, turn it over and add a handle.

There you go, a fair draw. Stain it and you have a good draw, french polish a great drawer and dove tail joints you have the Mother F*&^(* of all draws.

The draw appears to be fair already. Those teams who have been playing the most consistently good football are up the top, those who haven't found consistency are in the middle and those who have struggled all year are down the bottom. The table reflects the overall performances of teams.

No reason to rejig it when it's working.

The salary cap and TPAs on the other hand, now there's something that doesn't seem to be working to keep things fair.

  Agree that the top 6 and bottom 6 would be placed like current regardless of the draw but teams 7-10 could be effected if some play more top four teams then others and result in them missing the 8.

  So don't be a 7-10 team if you want a guaranteed final. Some luck is always involved, maybe it's injuries (to you or your opposition), maybe it's the weather. You can't remove luck from the equation altogether. The draw is as fair as it needs to be in my opinion.

Conferenceswwould be terrible, cut some pre season games out and have a full home and away draw is the only answer. I don't want to win a Conference and a then the beat the other conference champs. I want to beat every team every year

  My idea was to have a conference on to create a draw and not to be used in a ladder or play opposite conference champs. Agree with your idea though on the length of the pre season. Clubs whinge about the season being too long yet they play three trials, an english club championship and the nines. Maybe if they were scrapped we would have the same about of games just in a home and away season.

Make sure the clubface is slightly open on impact. Also keep your head still at all times.
