How come Betting options are still Open ?

How come all  betting options are still open Example Top 4, Top 8  Etc. TAB. ?

This would have a massive impact if we lost points.

When Bulldogs , Storm were done Betting was CEASED Immediately.

  • No idea
But it does not hurt the betting agencies if you bet on parra and we lose points
Might be different if you could bet against parra
  • They'd probably welcome any bets on Parra to finish top 4 Etc. If we were to lose points, it's free money to them. There's also no wooden spoon betting anymore, it's least wins now, so regardless of how where we finish on the ladder, if we were to have more wins than any other team which is very likely based on form, they don't have to pay out on it.
  • You can place a bet on, how many points we will lose.
  • You can still cash out your eels premiership bets and top 4 bets as well for a decent profit.

I don't think the betting agencies think we are losing a lot of points. And their intel is pretty good.

    I cashed out anyway

  • Sporting bet has removed parra from most losses and miss the top 8 markets, doesn't look good.
    • I saw that although I don't understand why they removed the most losses one. Unless they think we will lose all hope and start playing crap.

    • Because we've shown we won't be competing amongst the teams for 'most losses'
    • With eels_brad, bring removed from those markets would suggest bookies think they are sure to lose money because we won't lose the most matches or miss top 8. So if you think bookies have good Intel being removed film such markets is a good sign!
    • Not even the Cowboys or Broncos are removed from either of those. Parra aren't even listed. The only team that isn't.
  • Betting markets get suspended for basically 2 reasons:

    1) if there's a significant chance that insider information could dramatically change odds in the favour of a punter or

    2) if unusual bets come through in quantity

Neither of these are likely for the Eels. Why? The bookies learned from the Storm debacle and removed the "Wooden Spoon" market and replaced it with "Fewest Wins" market. The Eels aren't likely to win that either way. And there aren't likely to be any big bets placed on either "Fewest Wins" or "Premiership Odds" for the Eels as they're appropriately placed in both markets, and it's all in the bookies favour.

What you want to watch out for is lengthening of the odds for Eels to win the premiership. Currently were watching pretty decent odds (last I checked we were behind Broncs and Cowboys).

But I doubt betting will need to be suspended. Think of it from the betting companies point of view, they'll only suspend betting if they're going to lose big money or they suspect illegal betting, otherwise they don't care.
