Hoppa offered around

I know it's been reported on numerous occasions, but I have talked to someone who works at another club (previously he's been very reliable with inside information). Apparently Parra has approached this club with the intention of offloading Hoppa. The interesting thing is the fact that he has signed a contract worth 600k and Parra is prepared to pay 450k of this for him to play at the other club. I realize he's not currently signed with Parra as his contract hasn't been registered with the NRL, but this tells me that they're of the belief that the signed contract will have to be honored and that they are desperate to offload him as the 600k will put Parra 150k over the cap for next year. I'm pretty sure it was the current board that said they'd never pay a player to play for another club.

  • I've also heard the 600k rumored first figure.
If that's the case, we can forget about making the top 4 for the next 5 years at least, because offering very average players like Hopoate that slice of the cap is a disaster.

Heads need to roll, not only Seward, but coaches and board members.

And might I add, this all happened under Sharp's watch.

Hopa is worth 300k tops. He's too slow and weak, and isn't a centre's @whole.
    • Hoppa new contract is $670 000 per year plus $130 000 in third party sponership. Parra revised contract is $450000 with 3rd party. Hence why parra want him gone. This deal was done signed by Hoppa and his management. However Anderson didn't register this. Again hence why Hoppa and his management are playing hard to get.
  • Garbage.

    • If we were paying 450k out of Hoppa's contract when he was playing at another club, he would still be in our top 25 and effectively leave us with a top 24. It's how we've been playing the last couple of seasons.

    • No, it's obviously second hand info, but what I was told was that it was Parra to pay 450k of the total.
    • Most clubs in the NRL wouldn't have 200k left in their cap for next year let alone a 600..
    • No chance we'd pay $450k for a player to play at another club. We'd simply cut a junior or not re-sign Robbo. It's worth the extra $150k to not pay $450k
  • I'd steal a line from sixties eel and say... 'You've got some good mail mate'
    • Yep the same CEO who only a year or so ago was our membership manager, go figure...
  • 600k What a fekkin joke.

Here are some players we could have bought for 600.

    Hargreaves 550 est.
    Rona 300
    Morris 500
    Austin 450
    Merrin 600
    J Roberts 430
    Ferguson 490

No but we went all in with Hoppa for 600.
    Heads need to roll.

All are responsible. Sharp BA Ando
