Thought I'd look into a new dimension of stats and compare the relative success rate of teams when it comes to Holden Cup players successfully transitioning into the NRL.
Here's a break-down of all the teams, the players they played for and the cumulative totals and averages in how many players have played NRL from those 2008 teams and how many average games they have accrued collectively.
It is a bit long but it's interesting to monitor the players that have played NRL, and those who had short careers compared to those who had long careers and are still playing today.

Ricky you got to much time on your hands get a job
Paul, I've got one.
This is done in my free time and down-time.
Do you have lists for later years? The oldest of the 2008 NYC players will be hitting their peak right now, and obviously will have more NRL players than squads graduating in recent years.
I do, PE.
Working on 2009 as we speak & will do all the years up to end of 2014 and post them up in new blogs accordingly so it doesn't dilute this one.
It is, Fishbulb.
RL is a cut-throat business and if you're not up to standards, you're cast asunder and forced to play lower grades.
RIcky, thank you that. Looks like +40% conversion rate is good / 45% is best practice (Raiders, Broncos & Panthers). Eels have done better than I would have guessed - though not surprisingly many of the young guys have moved on. Surprisingly, Souths, Bulldogs, Sharks and Cowboys have not converted many of their juniors.
On average 3 players (10%) from each squad has gone onto make > 100 first grade appearances - just shows how tough it is for these guys to become established fist graders...
No worries, DDay.
We do have a surprisingly good conversion rate & that's largely due to the likes of Tim Mannah, Trent Hodkinson, Tony Williams & Dan Mortimer, who really bumped up the averages to make the club look good.
And yeah, a lot moved on from our club or others but it's nice to know that the club was able to pick a lot of talent that had the potential to succeed - which they did - even if they moved elsewhere.
Sharks & Cowboys traditionally don't have a lot of bona-fide juniors, but that is slowly starting to change so perhaps in 5-6 years time, their numbers will increase and look better statistically.
Good blog though had me interested
Cheers, OE. Will amend accordingly.
Glad you enjoyed the blog.
