Hidden gems - great songs few people know

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUEzrQBSeoThis is A blog to share that song that you love that few people know of but you know it as a classic. The clip I've attached is "in a broken dream" by Python Lee Jackson. They were an Australian blues band of the 1960s who tried their luck in the UK. In 1969 they recorded this song and asked a young Rod Stewart to do the vocals as the singer/songwriter in Python did not feel his vocals suited the song. The result is this song that people think is a Rod Stewart song. The song was released in 1969 to no success but was released again in 1972 and became a hit in England. I can't get the guitar solos out of my head.it has been re recorded by others with Rod Stewart since then. I am not a rod Stewart fan but his blues vocals in this are great.Time for everyone to share their hidden gem of a song.

How about The Beatles least known song "Free as a bird"

The song was originally composed and recorded in 1977 as a home demo by John Lennon. In 1995 a studio version of the recording, incorporating contributions from Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, was released as a single by the Beatles, 25 years after their break-upand 15 years after the death of Lennon.
    • Hi Jimmy.

Loved your choice especially seeing I am a big Beatle fan myself and have never seen that  clip before. Thanks for the wonderful memories. Extraordinary bit of filming there.

  • I am a bit of a Beatles nut. I preferred "real Love" to free as a bird. However, I like the clip to free as a bird.
    • Would Elvis outrank the Beatles? Can't beat the King!

  • Yeah the clip was great - incorporating a lot of the old Beatles stuff.

  • No nomination Slip? What about that Python Lee Jackson song?
  • Many people set probably familiar with the INXS cover of this song.
Here is The Loved One by the band The Loved Ones.

    • Great song by a great aussie band.
  • Although Australia was one place he was pretty popular (the other being South Africa), many people still haven't heard of Rodriguez. There was recently a documentary called Searching For Sugarman, and he will be touring Aus very soon.

    • Watched it Yobz and it was a good show. I used to pinch my brother vinyl's when he was out and Rodriguez was on permanent play.
