Head Coach Candidates

Not a bad read, for those who do not know about the candidates or want a run down of left field options this article outlines it well. Although i love Ciraldo, there reasoning for him not to be Eels coach is fair and justified.

  • Flanno's short interview was diplomatically well handled by him. But just get the feeling he is excited by his chances. It's either us or WT and WT are showing some fight coming home stronger in the home straight for their coach.

Reckon for sure Flannos management have been in talks with us already

    • He was very classy in his comments when Anasta talked him up on fox league, look i am not sure if it is the case but perhaps being out of the game for 3 years and wanting to coach may have humbled him a bit. And at the time Cronulla were quite a dodgy outfit who would do anything to win and Flanagan could get away with what he did, at Parramatta with this board not so much.

Also what works in his favour is he will be willing to work with O'Neill, where Bennett and maybe even Green would either so no want 100% full control or want their man in.

      • Yeah I got that from him too... I reckon it's him

        • Another thing to add is he may bring Steve Price with him, worked together at Cronulla before he went to Warrington, is coming home to Australia with no head coach job lined up so it has to be an assistant job, and hey the job he did in Warrington was great may have been thrown into the job at St. George too early and may have matured, he will give his all to get a head coach spot in 2023 so would be a wise pick up and Flanagan has connections.

          • Comes down to who is actually available and keen. Yes he definitely comes across as very very keen and excited for it.

Bennet as Flanno mentions himself is the Comp and experienced one - I just don't want our club to be in the same coach shopping  position in just over a years time and all the spec and disruption that brings again so soon

unless Bennett has Cronk under him next year in prep for a Cronk 23 solo gig that'd be my dream team

or some other almost ready assistant under Bennet would be the go if the club goes for Bennett

        • Yeah absolutely.
anyone that thinks Green wasnt playing with a huge cap for his coaching years at Cowboys needs to have another look

          Most are.

Still have to be good enough to get them there.

  • IF we replace BA my preference is that we go after experience and succesful coach over a rookie / or someone with less than 3 years experience, we cant go through the Stephen Kearny years again, we need a coach that recognises that the talent is already here, and just get them to perform, I still think Brad is the man for the job, but need to get rid of Kidwell

    • No doubt Brad could have been a better coach with better assistants... that said the best assistants in the world are useless if you don't listen to them. I don't think Brads too keen on having his ideas challenged given the way he's ignored every identity in the game including Gus and Sterlo about our defensive system needing to change

  • Okay I just looked at the stats for Shane Flanagan.

Of the 7 full seasons he was in charge of the Sharks he made the finals 6 times. 6/7 for finals appearances.

His record in the finals was 6-6. Much better than BA. BA is 1-5.

BA has made the finals 3 out of 7 times while Flanagan was 6 out of 7.

Better regular season record and better finals record. He is a better option than BA.

So do I have to recap the results to you every day ffs.

Bennett was first with Flanagan second choice and the vote was held in the two largest Eels sites.

Wayne won't be 8n Sydney leaving Flanagan as the most wanted.

            Thank you linesman

            Thank you ball boys.

Also Green & Fittler picked up fk all votes. Sleep on it Brissy and you'll finally see the light lol

If you'd like to do a vote blog go ahead,  you'll get the same results Haha
