Haynes Dream

NO this is not a piss take. The Hayne dream has been a joke for a few years now but I wonder just how good he could be if his dream was to take the Eels to a GF every season until he retires. Watching him lately has been awesome, He seems to be in cruise control while opposition defences are flat out trying to stop him. Forget NFL, Forget Union & focus totally on one thing. The ultimate Eel Dream, A Premiership. What he did in the NFL was nothing short of amazing, there are not many people in the world that could of achieved what he did. There are amazing athletes in the USA that have trained their whole lives to get a shot but he did it in an off season. Yes he was already a skilled athlete but it was still amazing. We need that Jarryd Hayne. A lot of people have come out & said he will never be the player he was in 2009 & after watching him over the last 6 to 8 rounds I have to agree. He won't be the same as 09, he could be even better. Jarryd, you don't need to look at other sports to find the dream, It's in the game you have loved your whole life & it's here at the club you obviously love. There is still time for you to become the best there has ever been. The dream is at the Eels. Time to make it a reality.

  • Yes there is no question Jarryd is at a crossroads now in his career. At age 30 he is now on the back nine of his career, but with his skills & footy IQ his game can age gracefully if he's willing to focus solely on that.

The big question is can Jarryd be satisfied playing in the NRL ?

The only person that can answer that is Jarryd himself. I would dearly love for him to just come out and say "I'm home and I plan spending the rest of my athletic career focusing solely on the Eels".

My feeling is that Jarryd is afraid to do that because he might miss out on something else, but I actually think he would find a bit of peace in his own mind with that kind of focus.

  • The Eels need to speak to Hayne about life and pathways post-playing-career. Realistically he's in the twilight years of his athletic career and he needs to start to figure out life afterwards. If we can offer him a pathway he can stay in the sport he loves with the team he loves, play out his on field career and then move onto other things with the Eels. He's an ambitious guy and if we don't feed his ambition he'll look elsewhere.

Then again he is Hayne so who knows what he'll decide to do next. From what he's shown the past few weeks he is definitely worth hanging onto though. The threat he poses in attack opens up so many other options for the players around him.

  • It would be great to.see Hayne stay at the Eels for the rest of his cloth career as he's got so much to offer and it would be great if he could finish winning a premiership with the Eels.

  • Frankie, I really don't see Hayne being a Pastor at Hillsong when he retires. He will more than likely contribute to Rugby League in some way.

    • I think it was meant sarcastically

  • Hillsong don't promote their cash cows, they use them and then drop them when they can't bring in more recruits/cash.

  • He wants to become a Reff

  • I hope he stays. he is parra through and through. Even a good couple of years deep into finals would be awesome a premiership would be amazing
