Hayne vs Tedesco

Phil Gould made the point tonight that NSW had found its new long-term fullback in Tedesco. Hard to disagree. But what does that mean for Hayne? And given that, does it affect his thinking as to what he might be consider his most likely position? If he does make the shift into the halves, the NSW Number Six jersey is obviously there for the taking long term!

  • Please just give up on the hayne to halves BS
    • Id put hayne on as a utility just incase teddy gets injured
  • If NSW had Hayne they could win the series. Every game is close, but Hayne could prove to be the difference.

Actually, for your information, I've got the roster sorted out for the next five years. For the next two years, we buy Blake Green on a two-year contract and he joins Norman in the halves, with Hayne at fullback and French on the wing. Hayne is our back-up six and French is back-up fullback, with the aim to transition those two players to their new positions in 2019.

So that's not actually my point. If Hayne is watching that, and he's thinking about this future in the game, and given the fact that he's shown he's much more willing to put himself up for a challenge, he may actually come back and say he wants to play six. And let's remember, Thurston is also coming to the end of his career so there is a likely gap opening up there too. So if you're returning to Rugby League and thinking where do you fit, and you've got a fair opinion of yourself, well there's an position vacant sign with a big number six on it.

  • Never changed my thoughts he should be a 6, not only is he a natural ball runner as many claim but he's a great ball player with an incredible pass and sublime vision.

He wasn't mature enough last time, was too selfish and didn't want to do whats best for the team, ofd jarryd put his mind 6 he could be just about the best in the game in 24 months imo, the blokes a freak.

He's way to good to come back and play FB for us or NSW, and its probably not in the best interest of the team if he does.

Its 5/8 or centre, 5/8 for mine.

    • Utility for me
  • I thought tedesco did well he is still young.
He will do well for the blues. But I think Haynes presence in the Nsw would lift the side immensely.
  • I always thought Hayne was a centre, he was players player in the World Cup a few years back for Australia playing in the centres and killed it, but you cant pay a million bucks for a centre...he should play 5/8th

"The problem with DB is he is not a true half or 5/8. Whilst young, he has managed to get away with his physical strength and speed. Most 'experts' will tell you he's a running 5/8 based on what he has shown so far. I beg to differ. Unless he starts…"
