Hayne to 5/8 like Carney

Im creating this post to find out how many of you guys are in favour of Hayne moving to 5/8 and those who want him to stay in fullback.

I myself would prefer him to stay, but seen as he is one of our major ball players, it could be better for him to go to the halves.
He was trialed at 5/8 a few years ago but it didn't work that well.

So if your supporting Hayne to go to 5/8 then write yes and put your explanation.
If your against it just say no and we will understand why.

I say NO!!

  • lol stiffler nice name

  • no
  • no
  • In defence i think fullback, attack up at five-eight i think....
  • No because we will sign a half it has to happen or parra recruiters will get sacked weve been after like 10 halves we will eventually have to sign 1.
  • No, he plays better with the room and view from the back, with some direction in the halves he will go back to his 2oo9 football
  • No. Why weaken one position to strengthen another ?

We need to develop full time halves and give some of the young guys (Humble,Murray,Mitchell, etc) a go.

Perhaps later in his career Hayne might move to 5/8 (ala Lockyer) when his lost a bit of leg speed and relies on speed between the ears.
  • I say yes.......he plays like a 5/8 most of the time anyway.......you don't see Slater setup plays like JH......

But he does really need a solid number 7 to really set him up.....he needs to be 2nd receiver at the most......he needs the half to set him up with less defenders........

He will be a 5/8 one day.....he has all the skills and more.......the kids freaky good......
  • Well Kearney has just said NO so thats the end of this thread.
  • difference is that Carney was a half and knew the position already, hence why he was so successful, i would be leaving hayne were he is for now.

Maybe in a few years when he loosses a yard of pace.
