The Hayne Plane

Jarryd Hayne has been sounded out by Fiji Bati, and given an opportunity to play in the upcoming games.

Hypothetically, if he goes alright and proves he's still a decent first grade level player, would you take him at parra?

The most naturally gifted player to ever play the game imo, at 36 I reckon he's still as good a player as Russell, Dunster ect...

Perhaps a spot on the wing a depth? Maybe not first choice but to have around. Jennings did it. If he can get down to his old playing weight and fitness levels I'd do it on minimum wage and I think Hayne would to.

Your thoughts? Of course this is just a thought, nothing too serious as it's off season.

  • On one hand Yes

nothing to lose , minimum salary , he's been exonerated . Most prolific player of the recent gen of eels

    on one hand NO

we are trying to move forward

turn a page , have a non dickhead policy ( he has been a dick ) want a cohesive playing group ( we know he can be polarising)

how much do we actually gain by looking backwards at what was ???

    • Exactly my thoughts. Only thing is, I think he'd be massive for the young blokes confidence like Penisini longi brown ect who have grown up in the area watching him. Could also be a mentor, to teach kids not to be like him lol. Idk

    • Well said and great reasoning, its a no from me as well.

  • No thanks. The last time he played for us we got the spoon.

Maybe he could mentor the young guys in dealing with women.

    • We got the spoon when he was the best player in the world lol but yea I hear ya

  • No.

  • IMO our best ever talent who never realized his full potential to become the GOAT. Very sad.

    • 100% agreed.

Unfortunately, he repeated his father's career path. He could have been one of, maybe the best to have ever played the game but didn't have the work ethic to go with it and relied on talent alone. What could have been?

  • Minimum wage $100k, loss of sponsors ... priceless.

I agree though, even at 36 and 20kg overweight he'd still be better than Russell. Especially with an off season under his belt.

    • This
