The Storm have a very, very good backup in Hinchcliffe. Without Smith, more responsibility falls on Cronk but he's good enough to pull them through. They probably drop down from being an elite team to just a good one, but they wouldn't fall apart.
I think losing Cronk would have more of an impact. You pull him out of the side and your back-up is a longway behind and Smith can't really take up anymore responsibility to take up the slack.
"Agreed. I won't renew him no matter how well he plays. He was still sketchy yesterday. He is a good impact bench player against tired edges and Moses slipping him balls. "
"Hmmm. The only in would be Moretti for me. Maybe. I'd let him maybe have more time in reggies first. I'd keep Guymer.
So basically, same team. Yes even De Belin. I want De Belin to be in the team first few rounds then things will change IMO. Him…"
"The only change we need to make is Hopgood back to 13 and JDB to 18 man. Not sure why he needs a spot in the squad as he is only practically here for 1 year and really provides nothing more than what Hopgood or Doorey can do for 25min. Walker has…"
"Brisbane's play the ball speed was quicker, but later on we got control of the ruck, poking our nose through and getting on our elbows for quick play the balls, Brisbane were out on their feet. Tawha was having a tough time keeping up and Mam…"

Thats like saying, if it wasnt for that disallowed try in the first 5mins we would have won.
No one knows what would happen.
For one thing we'd have cash to chase someone else or others.
Im not saying I dont want him, Im just saying you cant assume we'd not make the finals without him.
2 nuffie forwards would make at least that many line breaks instead of Hayne.
Out of your list Id agree with Thurston, but not so sure about the others.
The Storm got beat 40 - 0 in a GF without Smith in the side.
But we're not talking about injuries are we?
If Cam Smith wasnt there, but they used their money to get a good hooker, I still believe Cronk and Slater + their young forward would get them close.
If DCE goes and they buy a decent replacement, Manly still has the players to get the job done.
Replace Sam with JWH and souths arent out of finals.
Thurston runs the Cowboys and would be a massive loss.
Do you see where Im going with this?
Cronk would be a bigger loss than Smith IMO.

Or conversely add Cronk to our side with Hayne in it, perfecto!
Same could be said about Hayne. Take him out and buy a good FB and have cash left to buy a good FW also.
If DCE goes they don't buy a decent replacement as DCE is on peanuts at the moment.
they were dominating on the weekend till he got injured aswell
How is it Hayne's fault if the others play worse?
Think it's more a sad indictment on their lazy pea heart attitude, if what you are saying is correct.
Somewhat seemed that way last game I spose.
Blame them, not him for that.
