HAYNE FEELING THE EXPECTATIONS

Is anyone else worried about the recent form of jarryd ?

I know he is under enormous pressure and they have only been trials(except the G.F) but I think it might be something even more worrying. He just seems like he is hiding something from the media and fans, alot like that clown hodges from broncos who we have all heard is battling depression.

I have thought it for a few years now but was hoping he would just beat them demons by becoming one of the best modern footballers in recent times, which he now is but he still seems sad and distant. I'm not bagging him just VERY concerned as he is our attack superstar for this year and for many years to come.

Any thoughts?

  • He only played half of one trial match.... So what are you basing this on??

    Jumping at shadows much????
  • Yeah mate, you are jumping to some really ridiculous conclusions. Jarryd was the best player in the comp last year by a mileand on top of the world. This year he has played half of one trial and now he is depressed, sad and distant?? What the fuck are you talking about?? Are you psychic or just a fucking idiot??
  • If you have been watching him from when he first debuted, he has never looked more happy and his body language on the field is the best i've ever seen....early in his career he would let opposition players push him around but last year he made his prescence known...now other teams fear him...he is still quietly spoken and he is only 22....this doesn't mean he's hiding something...he is a very happy man at the moment
  • haha oh man this season really needs to start already.

some of us are losing our minds haha hayne is fine

    haynes achievements for 2010:
    * back to back dally m medal winner
    * breaks record for most tries scored in a season by any player
    * gets the number 1 jersey for the kangaroos
    * gets a nice little premiers ring on his finger
  • Hayne is gifted , he isnt going to risk injury in a trial , he was only doing streches out there
  • Im sure the sternum injury he picked up in the All Stars game would be doing him no favours. Wait til he fully gets over that before we make a call on his form
  • One of my colleagues knows him personally and has confirmed to me that he is, by nature, very quiet and reserved. Apparently, the fact that he comes across at times as aloof and ambivalent is simply a product of his uneasiness in being in the limelight.

To imply that he might suffer from depression is really quite pathetic Goorazeel!
  • Wow!.... I just got home from work to discover that we indeed do have some snappy people on this site who type before they think!
It was not my intention to upset anyone and 'YES'... I hope I am just being over-worried about OUR star player but even blind freddy can see that something is troubling this young man. The RECENT form slump I'm talking about is; The titans semi,The G.F,The roo tour,The all-stars game, and the two trials in which he played around half a game in each.
Like I said I am not bagging him and never will, I am a passionate Eels fan and just feel that we haven't seen anywhere near his best footy yet!
P.S I apoligise for saying he is hiding something but I didn't mean it in a negative, untrustworthy way. It should have been worded properly so I sincerely do regret that and also for putting him in the same category as hodges....... SORRY GUYS!
  • Okay, he wasn't as dominant against the Titans or in the GF as he was during our tremendous run but he was never going to maintain that stratospheric standard. On the Roo tour, he was out of position on the wing, where he recieved precious little good ball. And in the All Stars game - his first hit-out of the year, he injured his sternum early, yet still almost scored two tries (was held up once and lost the ball over the line the other time).

And all of this, in your view (and apparently that of Blind Freddy's) is conclusive evidence of not only a form slump, but some deeper, more malevolent force at work that is troubling his young mind??

I know we're all excited about the upcoming season, but seriously, over the last 2 weeks, this forum has become a Kangaroo Court of fear and loathing that started with players having "big heads", progressing to player contracts and Mateo being a "f&*$wit" and now culminating in Jarryd Hayne's obvious psychological disturbance!

I wonder, what can we have a panic attack about next??
  • Gooraz,

    give him a break

I thought he was good in the titans final without being brilliant

except for Fui and Mateo, did anyone play brilliantly in the GF

roo tour he was on the wing and had no chance to roam-which is the basis for his entire game

all stars he got injured after 35mins

played half of penrith trial and his sternum played up-not worth the risk

I ask the same question from my first reply - where are you getting this dribble about personal demons and depression from??
