Hayne exploring leaving Titans

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/teams/titans/jarryd-hayne-says-hell-leave-gold-coast-titans-if-neil-henry-wants-as-feud-with-coach-escalates/news-story/2ac0477f501ad76bb174374c899566d8TITANS star Jarryd Hayne has sensationally claimed he is willing to walk away from the club if Neil Henry does not want him, revealing the coach refused to talk to him in the lead-up to Saturday’s loss to St George Illawarra. In a fiery aftermath to Gold Coast’s fourth consecutive loss, Hayne said he would speak with his manager Wayne Beavis this week as he explores the possibility of cutting short his stay at the Titans. He is also racing the clock to be fit to play his former club Parramatta on Thursday after leaving UOW Jubilee Oval in a moon boot.Jarryd Hayne in a moon boot after Saturday’s game between the Dragons and the Gold Coast Titans. The NRL has been abuzz with talk that Henry and his star played had fallen out and Hayne confirmed their relationship had soured recently.“I don’t know, up until this week I thought the (relationship) was all right,” Hayne said. “If his opinion has changed from what he told me then that’s for him. For me I will talk to my manager during the week to figure it out. If he doesn’t want me here then I’ll move on.“It’s not one of those cases (where) I’m sticking out. If someone doesn’t want you there and it’s clear as day I will move on. He is the coach.KENT: Why Titans have to punt HayneFLOP: Hayne not in top 50 NRL playersLOCKYER: How Hayne is tearing Titans apart“He hasn’t spoken to me this week. It is a little bit (weird).”Hayne and Henry have a year left on their respective deals after Hayne exercised a $1 million option for 2018. The enigmatic fullback said recent media speculation had stung,“When people send you articles,” Hayne said. “I don’t read the paper. People ask me what’s going on and I’m like ‘oh shit’ … I’ll talk to my manger. If he doesn’t want me here I won’t be here.“It’s one of those things. As a person I think he is a great bloke. As far as coaching if he doesn’t see me in the picture, I respect that but I would rather find out from the person rather than the paper. That’s what I’m disappointed in.“It’s been tough to enjoy (football). As a team we’re all down on confidence. We’re not playing anywhere near as good as we can.”Henry had “no comment” about his relationship with Hayne.“He is a player in the team,” Henry said. “We talk and converse and do things. There’s been a lot of media about him at the moment. The thing that makes the go away is his performance. That will take care of things. He had a couple of strong touches early. Hard to get into the game with not a lot of possession.”Henry is facing a fight to keep his own job as the Titans crashed to another heavy loss going down 42-16 after leaking 28 unanswered points. Henry said he had not sort any assurances from the Titans board regarding his position.Jarryd Hayne after another Dragons try on Saturday.“Coaches are under pressure all the time,” Henry said. “I’ve got to get on with my job and that’s prepare my team as best as I can each week. I can’t stop the speculation. It’s up to all of us to play some decent footy.”Meanwhile, Hayne is in doubt to face the Eels on Thursday because of an ankle injury. It would be the first time Hayne lines up against his former club.“It’s a lateral sprain,” Hayne said. “I did it in the first half but tried to stay out there. It got worse. I have to wait 24-48 hours to see how it pulls up.“I’ve been really looking forward to this game. I’m hoping I’m right to play them.“I’ve got a lot of close friends there. It’s always good when you play against your mates.”Sponsored Stories

  • Made his bed......now he can rest in it.

    • I don't look at it that way.  Its a professional sport and he is entitled to try and earn as much money as he can.  If he wants to come home to Parra (for less money and we have it) he can replace the hole Semi will leave.  At this stage we only have signed one player for next year in Evans and I'm guessing we will also resign Meehan if things go to plan.  Therefore, you would think we would have enough money for Hayne if guys like Semi, Frank Pritchard, Gower, IDG and Matagi move on.

The important question is does BA want him?

  • Come home hayne
  • He is poison will have trouble to get anywhere imo with a good side a lower team will pick him up for overs and they will be no better off
  • And that folks speaks to the professionalism of Jarryd Hayne. All week there has been media speculation and Neil Henry has in no instance gone on the record. But Jarryd couldn't help himself! Good luck to him finding another club in Australia who would be willing to come anywhere near his Titans contract and if he requests to leave then the Titans shouldn't really be expected to carry any of it in their Cap.

  • He has a contract, if the Titans release him I gather they will have to pay the difference of any new contract with another club. Pity we have all positions covered, this could have been his fairytale return back where it all began.
    • Not if it is at Jarryd's request!

    • Correct.
  • An absolute circus.
  • I honestly wouldn't want him here. All money aside. His form is atrocious, his attitude is downright embarrassing and the media circus he brings with him.....no thanks.
