Hayne could be off to America for trial

Apparently Hayne could be sent to America to face trial on allegations of rape.

Hayne has denied any wrong doings and said everything that happened was consensual but it seems that won't stop the woman from trying to press charges.

I wonder what this could mean for his footy career, do you think this might be the reason for the slow and seemingly non-existent contract negotiations?

I hope for Hayne's and Parramatta's sake there is no legs to this story.

  • No charges were ever laid . The woman is going after him via a civil suit only. She is chasing $$$$.
  • Thought the trial was 2020
    • I believe there are hearings and depositions at the start of next season but, if it were to go to trial, then it's likely 2020.

  • Well if we do put pen to paper and then he is deemed as having a case to answer ( I’m assumig this isn’t the civil case which has no legal bindings like the OJ Simpson guilty verdict ?) , then we would be forced to pay him some kind of settlement if we wanted to release him rather than still play someone deemed guilty of rape , yeah ?

The guy is just surrounded in bullshit .  From his Twitter crap , to this hanging over his head , to the injuries , to the secret payments he demanded after he’d pissed off to chase his stupid dreams , it’s all just shit we’d left behind as a club and we’d improved massively and were playing as a unit . Now we are just like we were before , Hayne , Hayne farking Hayne ...

  • There are no charges to be laid, the police investigated and said he had no case to answer. She is pursuing him via a civil proceeding which he can choose to ignore as tge US court system has no jurisdiction over an Australian citizen and extradition doesn’t apply. This will never see the inside of a court room, Jarryd’ll settle with no acknowledgement of guilt and she’ll get 2/3rds of 300k.

    • Why hasn’t he settled already and be done with it ?   This dude has some fucking terrible management and advisors .

      • They walked out of mediation a couple of months ago. I'd imagine they'll go through the deposition process and there'd likely be an agreement reached then. Neither side wants to take this to court.

        • I don't see what the issue is if she doesn't want to take this to court?

  • Could this be the reason the club hasn't committed to resigning him just yet?
    • No. Bernie Gurr said yesterday the recruitment team had made contact, they are currently discussing details.

"I actually agree with that. Just look how BA is now treating him considering the year he had in 2023. Makatoa is no.19 against Dolphins and Greig misses out, so if a forward went down he would trust Makatoa more than Greig.
