For anyone still interested in Hayne....

JARRYD HAYNE

The former Parramatta Eels superstar and wannabe gridiron player is not here for the game.

He watches from Sydney and tweeted afterwards: “Epic game !! Crazy finish. Congrats to the Patriots

Parramatta CEO Scott Seward is among the crowd of more than 70,000.

I ask him about recent speculation of Hayne playing NRL again in 2015 should his NFL bid fail.

(There have been rumours in recent weeks that Dessie Hasler and the Bulldogs are ready to pounce.)

“Jarryd can’t play for anyone in the NRL but Parramatta this year,” Seward said, “that was the condition of the release.

“Whether we still have enough money for Jarryd under the salary cap is something we’d need to look at but at this stage it’s not something we’re even thinking about.”

  • What a nothing story if ive ever read one.

  • Yep waiting for who can he play for in 2016 follow up.

Saw tonight Hayne wont make a nfl deal until at least late February if at all so???

  • We were due for a Hayne blog.

  • Who?
    • Ahh some shelia named Jarryd

  • I admire loyalty. If he did comeback that would be great, but he did leave us for something that seemed better.
  • I'm looking forward to seeing how the guys play without Hayne as their safety net.

Having said that, I'd have Hayne back if he fails to get a NFL contract.

My biggest issue is the club having to hold onto some money while we wait to find out, when it could be put to better use, esp if he finally gets a contract.

    Waiting can be a bitch.
  • "The club should of said that he had 2 choices sign the 4 year deal the club offered or be granted a release on the condition he signed a clause which would prevent him from playing for any other NRL side for 4 years the same length as the contract he was offered" -

Don't see how that could be enforced. If the club wanted to play hardball like that, Hayne would have just said Fcuk that, I'll sit out season 2015 for no pay (which is effectively what he is doing now anyway), a la Gordon Tallias before he went to the Broncos, and then negotiate an NRL contract with anyone he pleases to for 2016 and beyond when he no longer has any contractual obligations to the Eels.

  • He will be at another club in 2016. I can smell it! I'm tipping Roosters.
    • I'm tipping Panthers...
