Hayne and Mannah dominate 2010 1Eyed Eel Awards

Jarryd Hayne has taken out back-to-back Player of the Year awards just in front of Tim Mannah but Parra’s young prop was a a clear winner of the 1Eyed Eel award.

The 1Eyed Eel Award is given to the player who our members believe deserves special recognition based on their effort, consistency and how they've represented the club off the field.

Mannah was a clear winner of the 1Eyed award, after a consistently outstanding season that also saw him rise to be a club leader and role model.

Mannah finished ahead of Eels backrowers Nathan Hindmarsh and Justin Horo.

Jarryd Hayne was again voted Player of the Year but only by 3 points ahead of Mannah with Ben Smith taking out third place.

Not surprisingly, Hayne was a runaway winner for Best Back in front of Luke Burt and Joel Reddy, while Mannah was Best Forward in front of Hindmarsh and Ben Smith.

Most improved player was Justin Horo who rose from plying his trade at Wentworthville to being one of the most promising young forwards in the competition. Tim Mannah was second with Justin Poore third, presumably for his mid-season improvement.

And Jacob Loko may have only played half a season at NYC level but it was enough to impress 1Eyed Eel members to make him the Under 20 player of the year, in front of Patrick O’Hanlon. Ken Sio was third.

And finally, the most memorable moment of our 2010 season was the revenge victory over the Storm in a fiery encounter that saw Jarryd Hayne and Billy Slater lock horns in an unforgettable encounter. That just nudged out the miraculous comeback against Penrith and another great come-from-behind win against Manly.

Thanks to Tinkerbell and Eelmatic who tallied up the results.

  • Congrats to Haynsey and Timmy "DA MAN" Mannah. Well deserved
  • Are we going to give them a medal or a trophy? I've got an old soccer trophy that we can scratch the names off and regift.
  • Forward this on to the boys via Ozzie I reckon!
  • Finally - just finally Ben Smith is starting to be recognised for his efforts.

Now if he can score a berth in the SOO team with Tim Mannah I would be a very happy man.

Good spread of votes for senior and "junior(?)" players.
  • I can't believe more people didn't view the best moment as winning against the Bulldogs, which knocked them out of the race for the Top 8 and revitalised our season at the time.
  • Suprised our storm win wasn't the clear winner! It was something special!
  • 2 thumbs up to the boys and hats off to Timmy and Benny Smith for making PM's XIII.
  • We probably could of had a 'Rumour of the Year' or 'Scandal of the Year' too with all the crap that's been happening this year!

I know one thing is for certain though, we'll be back in 2011!! Hopefully with a new attitude and a quality half back, the rest will take care of itself.. 2011 is ours for the taking.. Viva los Pirtek Parramatta Eels, and good on ya Timmy on a great year!
