Hayne and conspiracy theories

Let me start by saying I've been a Hayne fan however can all the muppets out there please give up on the conspiracy theories. Hayne left Parra to chase his dream (and a huge payday) in the NFL and has now chosen to sign with the GC because they were the highest bidder. All the, our fine paid the NRL to give the cash to the Titans and theNRL knew our every more and gave advise to the Titans is all bullshit. To all the Hayne lovers, he chased the dollar. Accept it.Our club made a far and reasonable offer and missed out, end of story and I reckon we dodged a bullet. $500k a season is 2 pretty good top 25 spots. Imagine the pressure (and up roar) if we had to let 2 more players go.End of rant...

  • Couldnt agree more ,sensible club decision were just not used to them
  • Hayne was reportedly offered 1.3m per season when he left a few years ago. With that money we have been able to buy a number of very good players and upgrade contracts of existing players. Imagine if he stayed, where would we be?
  • Agree 100%.
The NRL even came out yesterday and said the investigation into players/managers is ongoing but just like every other player Hayne can play while its underway.
The previous board was crap at most things but you do have to congratulate them for a success 'the NRL is corrupt and out to get us' campaign.
  • Looks like Gold Coast may have to get rid of Hoffman and Mead to fit Hayne in, might be good pick ups for the Eels
    • Or Peatsy
    • Like mead but we need a half back with no connections to Eddie Hayson or manly lol
  • Here's my theory.
Hayne wanted to leave Parra a few years ago so he concocted 'the dream' to get out of his contract.
He never had any intention of eventually coming back to Parra - only if we paid stupid money.
Our latest salary cap dramas gave him the perfect excuse to offer up fans and the Parra club - after all who would come to a club on its knees that has no ability to source TPAs or match their competitors best offers.
Face it, Hayne wanted out years ago and he got his wish. It was great while it lasted but we need to move on without him.
Who knows, in 8 months we may all be saying Jarryd who?
  • Might be if Semi racks off.
I'd take Hoffman and he can team back up with Norman.
  • Another thing I got the impression he was going to union last week but same as Eels could not get money he wanted. He then would have comeback for Swan Song in winter of years to Eels.
  • I am of the view that the NRL's claim to be serious about sorting out player managers is just that - a claim.

If they were really serious about it, then they would have done something by now, you would think they would have enough evidence by now to implicate at least one or two managers through their involvement with the Eels. Its the NRL's usual BS on matters such as these that us fans treat their comments with contempt.

They were quick (in their pace of things) to suspend and de-register the board (deserved of course) but as usual seem to be slow in acting on anything to do with players and/or their managers. Remember they used the same evidence (i.e. Sewards and Irvines 'private" and undisclosed testimony) to convict others but don't be too willing to use it elsewhere.

Not a conspiracy per se - more NRL using stuff to meet their needs/objectives.
