Hayne

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't see it.Hayne is driving around Sydney in a car that is linked to the Roosters sponsors. Word is that if his NFL dream fails come August, he will enter negotiations with the Roosters courtesy of Mr Politis.Saw it on Fox Sports....although it was a Buzz Rothfield story.

    • Wishful thinking maybe Captain?
Anyway it's all conjecture and I guess time will tell.
But let me say this, if he does sign with the Roosters, what a dog act.
    • Could you imagine the backlash from supporters if RTS knocked back $800,000 and Maloney $600, 000 to stay for considerably less. Aside from TPAs and under the table payments of course. At the moment most of us think the salary caps dodgy, it's a hell of a lot different when you know it as fact.

  • According to Rothfield, the Roosters won't be making any decisions on the other off contract players until Hayne weighs in. I don't know whether there is any truth to but I would be genuinely offended if he didn't try to negotiate a contract with Parra/NRL first - of course, all of this depends on him not making an NFL roster AND the story about the vehicle having some merit...
  • EE, this has already been established multiple times. We couldnt have him contracted while he was gone, as that would mean he would have to remain on our salary cap at his market value.

  • This is a week old and just another attempt to not let go of our long lost love. Breaking up is hard to do until you find a replacement - Foran.

    • It is correct, the reason sbw was not paid was because he breached the contract. So the NRL de-registered him for the period of the contract, The same with the Jamie Lyon incident. He left mid contract, therefore the NRL banned him from playing in Australia until the end of that period.

They could have signed him for x amount of years, but do you really think the NRL would have let us get away with that? Even then, why would Hayne sign said contract, it limits himself and any potential earnings the NRL could provide him should he come back.

        • I believe that is a condition of the the contracts. He breached it by leaving and not mentioning it to anyone at the club. Therefore any earnings for the remained of that season and the date to maturity of the contract become void. The contracts would have a  term that provide the clubs and the governing body with the right to ban you / prevent you from playing for the period of the remaining time should you breach the contract.

  • Hold on.. the club said Hayne is an eel for life..
I reckon they couldn't afford to pay him any more that's why they allowed him to, what was it 'chase he's boy hood dream'..
They allowed ricky to cut players in 2013 not knowing the ramifications it would do to the salary cap.
Now we have an incompetent board risking 4 points for next season.
Go Team Lebanon ( sam issa, ray touma, john chedid )
