Have your say on the Eels

You may or may not have seen that the club has announced the creation of the Supporter Group Alliance. I am on this panel and so far our 2 meetings with club representatives have been productive, with our feedback used to assist the club in running the fan day at CommBank earlier this year, and last week's Member Forum.

The group's remit is covering the club's fan and community engagement initiatives, looking for ways to improve the game day experience, alongside the overall supporter's experience. More information is available here: https://www.parraeels.com.au/news/2025/02/04/parramatta-eels-supporter-group-alliance-a-new-era-of-fan-engagement/

Ahead of the next meeting I am actively encouraging you to provide me with feedback on anything you feel the club should know about regarding your experience as a fan.

What do you like?

What do you dislike?

Are you an interstate fan with opinions on fan events in your area?

What would you like to see on game day?

What would you change regarding member packs, merch, digital content?

Throw your suggestions and I will present to the club at our next meeting.

For full transparency, Jim Sarantinos alongside other members of the club executive and those that lead membership and the commercial side of the club are attending these meetings so anything you bring is being discussed with the people who ultimately make these decisions.

  • I'm a subscriber to the less is more theory.

Instead of members getting an array of cheap rubbish merchandise with their membership how about 1 year they get a member cap, the next they get a member polo shirt. Worthwhile stuff like that

There are only so many lanyards, stickers, keyrings, medals etc I can throw in the bin.

    • I agree. I've been getting the member's packs for years. My kids might use a sticker but most of it goes into the bin except the cap.

    • Or maybe reward those long serving members in that 5+ years get a polo or 10+ years gets a jersey or something (spitballing for an example as obviously should be more years). It is like all member style companies where they look after new customers more than their long serving ones.

Lanyards i will say are handy for my season tickets but not all members get season tickets.

      • Thanks LB. They do a 10+ year members event each season, but I'll put forward the idea of a milestone addition to membership packs. I'm aware the club is also working through an issue with their membership platform which was listing some incorrect dates.

      • LB, if you had a good quality lanyard that just had Eels Member without a year that would last years rather than a new one every year would that work for you?

    • Yeh I'm in the same boat. Although in the past 2 seasons, they have given you some choices. Like I opted for just the members shirt this season, and my wife got the pack.

Were you aware of that option for this season? I believe they offered 3 options: Member pack, t-shirt or gift card.

      • Vaguely rings a bell. I get it for my Xmas gift from grandkids ... previously it was my kids. Will look more closely a next renewal.

    • Yes! This x 1000.

One good quality item, even if it's an "opt in" for a slightly higher price tier. The stuff that's in the packs now is cheap and tacky, and honestly I'd prefer to get nothing and produce less plastic waste.

  • Hey Super, I would love to see the following

    1. Eels cheer girls back after disbanding them in 2021. Not only visually pleasing but they are an avenue for young acrobatic girls/ people to showcase their skills, further they are able to help regulate the crowd barracking for our team.

    2. We need a sound played over the loud speakers at home games, when we do something great on the field, score a try or are on the attack. The tigers have the Growl, Panthers the same, Canberra have the viking horn, Souths have the music Glory Glory to South Sydney, Canturberry have Who let the dogs out woof woof etc etc . The Eels have nothing for us to sink our teeth into in this respect.

    3. Its rare to find an XL jersey in the merch store / vans on game day to buy. Always always out of stock.

    • Thanks mate, I'll put these forward. I particularly like the second point as The Swarm is being relaunched so this could go nicely with that initiative.
