Have we really improved?

As per title, have we really improved or is it Hayne finding form which has resulted in an improved season? I honestly believe if he didnt find form we would of won the wooden spoon for another year.

  • Yes i think we improved in a lot of areas, certainly many of our young guys improved.

Injury played a big part in the season, but i think we turned the corner in plenty of areas on and off the park.

But the way we finished the season was totally unacceptable imo, just not good enough, and theres no sugar coating that can fluff the last few games up, until we get rid of those types of bullshit performances we are doomed.

    • This is the most sensible comment I've seen on this site in 48 hours. This is honestly how I also feel about this season. Of course the last 2 games were terrible, we all know that but to say the season was a disaster is crap. Our season was average, we won 12 games and we lost 12 games.

  • Crab man needs to be shot in the face
  • Yea i agree guys. A big concern to me is our 5/8 in Norman. The guy has no creativity and he often jolts our bread and butter play which is the sweeping backline setpiece plays, its like he has to stop and think about what he needs to after receiving the ball and when u pair him up with the dud buy in Hoppa, its no wonder that side of the field has struggled all year. I wont go into the pairs defense ir lack of it lol.
  • 100% we get the spoon if Hayne was out...... Not a doubt in my mind

  • Well we were a chance at the 8 til the last round, so def an improvement.
If peats had stayed injury free we would have been in the 8.

The last few games were disappointing, especially after thee great hi of beating Manly. That was a great effort, but with the expectation and pressure it created the younguns lost it big time. Hayne, Mannah couldn't calm them to stop the ridiculously nervous shermozzle of dropped balls and missed tackles we saw last two weeks that they hung themselves with.

A lot of the young players have potential, and I think this year will teach them a lot, next year a bit wiser and tougher they should be a force to be reckoned with ( and hopefully Hoppa stops praying for help with each play and just switches on to it!). Top 8 next year, and a good chance of taking the jewellery in 2016 if the team can hold together...
  • NO WE HAVENT.. Hayne will not have another freakish year like this one...we believe our own hype.... Canberra have improved ... Newcastle have improved... We just got worst as the year went on.
  • Also I might not be popular with this comment, but credit to Ricky Stuart , he was ballsy enough to make a big call to drop campese and the raiders got better..thank God he got rid of the dead wood last year. . . So yeh I give him credit. Stephen Kearny was our Gillard / Rudd leader who completely screwed our club
    • Raiders folk were calling for Campese to be dropped all throughout the season. He only did it very late in the season and only when Campese got injured.
Can't let you get away with giving Pricky undue credit. Paleease
  • We improved heaps.... In the process we got younger and hence the lopsided results.

We didn't beat many teams that "turned up" this year... that's my biggest disappointment.

IMO we look a lot like Manly in 05 (I think). If memory serves me correct they scraped into the 8, we put 40 on them in the finals but over the next few years they built a premiership team.

I think at least half our squad will be with the eels in 3 or 4 years including our 1,7,9.

    Big things are coming.

"Agreed. I won't renew him no matter how well he plays. He was still sketchy yesterday. He is a good impact bench player against tired edges and Moses slipping him balls. "

"Hmmm. The only in would be Moretti for me. Maybe. I'd let him maybe have more time in reggies first. I'd keep Guymer.
So basically, same team. Yes even De Belin. I want De Belin to be in the team first few rounds then things will change IMO. Him…"
