Have the Nrl gone soft of the shoulder charge

Hey guys,Ive watched most of the matches this weekend and ive seen a number of clear shoulder charges let go without penalty.Im just wondering if anyone else had noticed that and if the Nrl had made instructions to the refs to turn a blind eye to the minor ones?

  • Hope so! Penalising a 'collision' or unavoidable contact last year was ridiculous
  • This will be the next new / old rule to be heavily scrutinised.
There will be a warning from the NRL sent to all clubs, we will see some lengthy suspensions and then it will blow over by mid season.
  • I'm pretty sure Taupau got put on report for a shoulder charge. He wasn't penalised but the bunker saw it and reported him.
  • Which shoulder charges did you see that didn't get penalised? Can you be specific?

    • I saw some in the Brisbane game from both teams that easily could have been considered shoulder charges.
Last night in the Cronulla game as well Matt Prior did one as well.
Ive seen a few instances where players are just launching themselves at the opposition shoulder first, rather than turning aide on for a shoulder charge.
Dont get me wrong, i miss the old Sandow special.
    • Tep missed 2 shoulder charges that didn't connect.  I hope BA see's this on his game review and address the matter to Tep.  A little lazy attempt from the young man but should have no room for shoulder charge in the game.

      Good point Outrunna.

  • Good news!!
  • Please don't get me started on this lol.
