How would you currently rate the concept of the State of Origin Series in comparison to how it all began? Has the concept improved, declined or remained neutral taking into consideration changes in rules, technology, speed of the game, quality of players, implementation of the bunker, refereeing performances, coaches etc....will it continue as a series or will it disintergrate into a memory. What are your thoughts and if it needs improvement, how can this be accomplished?

    • So you are like me then brissy and predicting another 5 - 10 years of QueeRZland dominance to keep the Rednecks shovelling money into the NRL coffers.

Next SOO series I am going to be painting walls on game days so I can get some real excitement watching it dry.

  • Its not SOO. Its NSWRL verse QLDRL. Read into that what you want

    • I get your point and very true.

  • SHIT - CRAP - PREDICTABLE BULLSHIT - NO LONGER RELEVANT.

That aside it does make $ Millyuns for NRL and their parasites.

  • Foe me it was slowly declining,  I think the Queensland dominance over a ten year period had a negative impact.  The concept was founded on Queensland being the underdogs and rising to the challenge of beating the historically stronger nsw. Plus the fact the biff has been taken out the game started to resemble a club game.

Game 3 of this series felt a lot like origin of old to me, a far superior nsw team, talent wise, got taught a lesson on how origin is played. Origin is won by playing with heart and determination,  by working harder than your opponent.  You can't rely on out-skilling the opposition,  if you could nsw would have won a hell of a lot more games than qld prior to that qld dominant era.

I think it is back baby.

  • Sadly nowhere near as interesting as it used to be.  It hasn't been marketed well at all for years now.  Always used to remember the build up with the cane toads and roaches.  The television adverstising. It is now missing something.  Origin was always about heart and soul.  Taking any form of biff out of the game has killed it.  The genuine dislike has gone.  Most of the players are friends.  Add to that the influence that referees now have more than ever.  Origin has for mine declined in a massive.  The modern game has gone soft.  It might be more athletic but it is becomming soft.  Most fans IMO want the big shoulder charges etc etc.  Players survived for decades before the current rubbish.  Just my opinion.
