Has Hayne already signed with the Eels?

Anyone think this is already a done deal and there is a bigger picture here?

  • Hayne departs prior the NRL Salary Cap Scandal
  • Hayne swears allegiance to the Eels and agrees that if he returns to the NRL, that he will be an Eel
  • Hayne reportedly being paid a retainer by the Eels
  • Eels sign Michael Gordon but for only ONE season
  • Salary cap scandal declared and announced
  • Massive number of Eels players off contract for 2017
  • Hayne quits NFL

Thoughts?

  • Sounds fair!
  • Recon it's about the ato investigation... Sounds like it bad not good news
  • There is no problems ato wise as long as the player has declared income and paid tax accordingly. ATO just makes a good headline

However I'm of the view that Tax records should he made available by all registered players to the NRL to police the cap each year however players association object.
  • Just because income is not declared to NRL it does not follow that it isn't declared to ATO
  • No doubt hes been in constant contact with BA and theres always a bigger picture.

BA, Schubert and Peter Sharp are handling negotiations of all contracts atm, if a deal was being done those 3 will be the ones doing it.

There has been no contact between Jarryd and the current board im told, Its possible Geoff Gerrard is part of the BA/Schub/Sharp loop but Cordwell, Garard and Gaidel are not so the board are not involved if its happening.

I believe the wheels are in motion for him to return, they have been in motion for him to return since he left, thats no surprise.

    • Hope so. I just can't help but think there may be a little more to the bigger picture here, but admit that I do love a good conspiracy theory.

    • How confident are you of him returning Snake?
    • im starting to think he had a bit of a realisation that he needs to actually make a bit of coin while he can. Whilst he may not have been cut by the 49ers he probably realised he wasn't going to ever be a star player and make big coin out of it. Hayne doesn't seem to be driven by money but he only has a limited window to make a killing. He may now go play jap or euro rugby for 2 or 3 years whilst he can still command huge money and then come back at say age 31 and still have a few years to try and win a competition with parra. That or the reverse - he thinks now is the chance to win the comp with the eels and then after he can still earn big coin overseas. The short of it is I think you are right snake its us or rugby now
    • Yeah but that's nothing compared to what he could earn in European or Japanese rugby. Even in league I have it on good authority that SBW was making over 2 million with roosters. It was probably even more.
    • I have a headache. I better go and take some panadol. #1confusedeelsupporter
