HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY

Now I know today brings mixed feelings, but never the less I for one am proud to live in this country and can see the input everyone (from the first inhabitants to the recent immigrants) has had in making the place great.I have done a bit of travelling, but can honestly say I LOVE A SUNBURNT COUNTRY. WE live in the best place on this earth without a doubt.Let's forget the bickering, unite and celebrate this great country.ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR.

  • Here here.
How about we keep the bullshìt out of this blog and just enjoy the day and not attack anyone today.
  • Absolutely agree.Anyone who knocks this wonderful country is a dog and should be shown the door to a country they agree more with.

    • Just got back from the US and the foods crap, coffees crap, weather is crap, standard of living is crap, I couldnt find anyway I wanted to live (but they think they're living in paradise)

The one thing they do better than us is Pride in the flag/country and their servicemen and women. I do wish we could do that better. I think we take it for granted sometimes.
  • Lol, very sincere.
  • Cheers TBUR. NO mix feelings from this bloke. Your last 3 words say it all. Celebrate what this country is, and I love the fact we are based on European selltlement, and I don't forget the aboriginal aspect being first people here. Beside the dinosaurs....
I do get peeved with the politics surrounding Aussie of year and the bull dust associated with that...they never seem to give the award to a mum and dad, or a local small business owner done good etc. always has a political bull dust spin...and this year no different. I'm off my horse....Australian flag proudly displayed up here on the Lake Macquarie. Beer will flow after lunch and watch the cricket later....
    • We were missing one thing that the Aborigines and Pommy influence lacked early on, decent food.

One thing that the Italians, Greeks, Asians, Arabs, Africans etc brought with them. And as long as they leave the crap behind, the stuff that made them leave their country of birth, then I have no issue.

Food and sports have been greatly improved by newer immigrants, but lifestyle and a good Aussie sense of humour are the life blood and something we cannot lose.

Oh and you can't forget replacing international roast with a good espresso or flat white. Hahaha
  • Unite with Manly Supporters TB?....... Geez u r asking a lot for Oz Day!

    • They're not Aussies are they Mick?

If they are we're all in trouble. Lol

Have a great day mate ;)
  • Everything's crap but look how many of us hop on a plane and head there on holidays every year.

Cant be all that bad - maybe just not as good as Australia.

    • Mate I only do it because I like to sample things for myself, esp history which is something Aust lacks.
The US people we met were friendly and helpful, but it just made me appreciate home even more.

I, like others always think I can see Aust when I get older and flying becomes harder, but in reality I may not get the chance.

I only have one more area in the world I want to sample, then a bit of Aus will be the aim.

I guess I'm just fortune to have the ability to travel anywhere, as I know other for health or financial reason aren't.

Watch all the 6 agains, missed penalties and dodgy calls we get against us (more than usual). NRL will set an example of us to all clubs not to try and air the dirty laundry.
