Hamstring downgrade gives Cayless grand final hope

PARRAMATTA skipper Nathan Cayless has fresh hope of taking his place in next Sunday's grand final after scans yesterday revealed his hamstring injury was not as bad as first thought. Coach Daniel Anderson rolled the dice and won by playing injured duo Daniel Mortimer (hip) and Krisnan Inu (hamstring) in Friday's preliminary final defeat of the Bulldogs, and he's set to let it ride and do it all again after doctors discovered Cayless had not in fact suffered a hamstring tear but a strain. ''I had some scans Saturday morning and the doctor and the physio have given me a chance, some hope of playing,'' 31-year-old Cayless told New Zealand's RadioLive yesterday. ''The scans showed that it wasn't as bad as they first thought during the game and that it's more of a strain than a tear. So fingers crossed. ''I've still got to do a lot of work to get back on the field but they've given me that hope.'' FULL STORY HERE

  • Great news, I reckon Caylesses experience will be vital during a busy and nerve racking week.
  • GREAT NEWS , Do you think tahu will be a liability with injuries
  • Awesome news. We need our best 17 players to win this one.
  • Thats positive news so far... however he still has a long way to go! i would be devastated if Cayless wasnt able to play on Sunday.

Best of luck with it Nathan... remember, plenty of ice!
  • Would be good to get the same 17 that have been winning for the last 2 months out there thats for sure.
