Really confused about some of these nominations and dumbfounded that no Eels players from the '80s have been included. Kenny, Sterling, and Price at the very least should be nominated.

You can't get nominated to be in the Hall of Fame if you are already in it.

These are just the nominees for this year, not the inductees.
As HKF mentioned those guys are all HoF'ers, they were all part of the charter class last year.
Vic Hey, Peter Sterling, Mick Cronin, Eric grothe Snr, Brian Hambly, Brett Kenny, Ray Price, Ken Thornett and Authur Beetson are former Eels players that are already in the Hall Of Fame.

Dick Thornett represented Australia in 3 different sports, rugby league, rugby union and water polo. Absolute champion!
Where's Steve Ella's name?
It doesn't matter what he did in other sports, it only matters what he did in Rugby League, and Dick Thornett did not do enough to justify being nominated.
Steve Ella's career was too punctuated by injury to be a serious contender.
