Half kicking in 2016

Can Foran be the primary kicker next year?He occasionally shows some talent with long kicks eg last weeks 40/20 and attacking kicks eg the test matchBut he has never been the primary kicker. Can he do it all match week in week out?We can't make the finals this year so maybe Norman should be given primary kicking duties to train him up to give Foran some relief next year. Because ATM Norman's kicking is worse than useless. Also who is backup goal kicker next year? Or even backup fullback? Are we resigning Robinson?

  • Think Gordon will kick, and then maybe Robinson if he stays. Not sure who else can.....
    • Actually after last week maybe forget Robertson
      Other kickers
      Kelly
      Seffa
      Norman
Maybe Norman needs to practice his kicking in the long off season

    • Well Norman has shown he has a good grubber over the dead ball line to turn attacking opportunity into 7 tackles for the other side
So I am guessing it is all up to Foran
  • Can any of our hookers kick?
  • Gordon will kick, Norman will improve as he will not have as much pressure as he will have a halves partner that can help control the team as this year with Sandope and Kelly,Seffa he had to do all. As for a backup fullback I expect that to be French and hopefully we don't re sign Robinson as we have too many sub standard players already.

  • Obviously Gordon will be the goal kicker

Just was wondering who will be backup goal kicker

And mainly wondering if Foran can handle being the main in field kicker because Norman can't kick and Kelly can't come near FG

  • He is not going to have any help - kicker in the red zone. So I hope he can step up from putting the occasional kick in, to being it.

  • I reckon that Norman will become our dominant kicker for long kicks. With a pre-season to work on it he could probably work on becoming more consistent. Foran will definitely be the person we go to looking for an attacking kick, hoping he can work on positioning his bombs a little bit better so that the chasers have an opportunity to contest it though. That's probably my biggest concern about Foran's game. He puts up a nice bomb that is a good 2-10 metres out from the opposition line that gets to the fullback so that the chasers can smash him when he's on the ground but rarely will you see Manly be able to contest the bomb.

Best case scenario, we don't have to produce any long distance kicks as we'll be in the opposition's half the entire game.

    • Hi Ham

What makes you think Norman can do the long kicks?

Can't recall him showing any promise, but would be great to be wrong.

(including goal line drop outs) - maybe Gordon can do those
