There's no doubt gutho is a quality player but I don't believe he is a full back.
He doesn't have the pace or positional play to match it with the top fullbacks of the game.
His kicking game is also inconsistent.
I believe for the eels to be a true contender they need to bring in a quality fullback.

Agree 100% his not a good fullback, i also don't think he is a good leader and that showed tonite.

Yep. Gutho’s heart is in the right place. He gives everything he can, and he has his good moments just by being alert and on the ball.
But his kick return speed and defence is woeful. Can’t say I’ve ever seen him slice through the field on a kick return like the top fullbacks often do. Usually it’s a couple of goose steps and submit, or pass it to someone else ASAP!
He could of stopped a try on the left wing tonight but basically just ran past with an arm out. Hayne would have wrapped him up and bundled him over the sideline.
Hate to say it but Gutho at FB is a weakness but not sure where else to play him..
I think hes a centre who plays fullback but that been said hes a decent 1 but as pointed out his work in the back half of the field is an obvious weakness
I actually think brown could make a good fullback for a couple of years. Swap them around and bring gutho up in the line. Why we signed Jennings is beyond me, not that he is to blame but there is some talented centres at the moment .
i dont think its a weakness. He's a ball playing fullback who's always pushing up and on the ball. He acts as an attacking foil for the halves.
He's safe as a bank at the back and in the last line of defence always puts his body on the line. He will never be Tedesco, RTS or Tommy T but no other fullback in the comp is.. despite the jizz fests over Ponga, Gutho does a tonne more for the team .
I think he’s not elite level but he’s still pretty good IMO. - can’t simply blame Gutho.
He had an off night tonight, so did at least 13 of his team mates. They all need to learn consistency, to win on the road, in any conditions to push the likes of the Storm and Roosters.

Not all fbs are going to be Teddy or turbo.
Last week he had 200m and threw some great passes.
If Gutho is a problem based upon tonight then replace the whole team
Every player is a 'downhill skier'. Where were Smith and Munster last week when their team needed them? How about Origin/Kangaroo centre Chambers? Every player looks better when their team has all the ball and worse when they don't.
This^^^^^^^^. Against the big boys they offer nothing.
It's a shame we can't play the Broncos and Titans every week. Mahoney and Dylan Brown are two young kids we can build a team around though.
