Now i believe a deal will get done, but i like Parramatta standing their ground on Gutherson. If anything it could be better moving forward without him as his approach has not been leadership material, Russell is a year off though could be an option in 2023 we shall hope.

wSounds like Ayoub and Gutho tried the old, "We have huge offers from other clubs and need more to stay" Now with no huge offers forthcoming there prefrence is to stay at the Eels and are ready and waiting to sign. Oh and what a strange comment from his manager Ayoub "And I have no interest in talking about the interested parties that are keen to chat with Clint going forward.”......
Because they all called you out and publicly stated that they wernt interested.
Perhaps you scared them all off with $1m demands. And the worrying silence from the club is them now looking for an xfactor player to sign instead.
was ayoub haynes manager as it sounds like the same crap
There's no worrying silence of contract talks. Once again Ayoub playing games in the press. Gutherson has an offer which he can sign today. If he wants something different it's his job to approach the club and negtotiate, not the other way around.
I think the club has one eye fiirmly on the future. There's much more from where the likes of Will Penisini came from and we need to make sure we're in a position to sign them as their values increase. Hence why Gutho for 4 years makes no sense to me.
👍
I'd agree if he were 3 years older, but not 27. He's in his prime now, now is the time to go all in.
He'll be 32 at the end of a 4 year deal. They'll probably talk options but I can't see the club agreeing to 4 years straight up. And why should they? What's Gutho going to do, go and play for the Tigers or Bulldogs? Good luck with that.
Agreed, but locking him in now for a starters basically means the club doesn't have to have a serious negotiation with him ever again, and this is the chance to lock in our spine through their best years together.
I understand the clubs take on wanting to maintain salary cap flexibility, and I think in principle it's a good approach, but does anybody seriously think we're gonna get a better fullback for our team over the next 5 years ?
Aside from his negotiation methods, is there a fullback out there better suited to our teams playing style ?
We've led the league in offloads the last 3 seasons, and who do you reckon is the fullback best suited to take advantage of that ?
I just think now is the time to say, "OK he's our guy, we're all in".
I'm sure Tfats what they'll offer him, I said that the other day, I'm just what I woukd offer him
He's so good not even a brand new franchise with no fullback seems to want him, but we should lock him in for 5 years on 750k+ because we won't have any better options over the next half decade.
Sounds like we need a better recruitment and development program.
How do you know the Dolphins don't want him ?
