Gutherson deletes tweet

Gutherson deleted a tweet saying Anyone looking for a 5/8 I know where the promise land is #trusttheprocess and tagged Brad Takarangi

My guess is he was just taking the piss and offering Taka to the tigers, but I don't think BA would be too happy with him tweeting and making fun of recruitment. I would say he must be burning a bit from the news, hope we don't lose him but I think his best position is fullback although I prefer French. He would have been better moving clubs, without the 6 he can only go to centre, he's not a winger.

Cody Nelson replied to a fan saying Gutho was joking around with Taka, don't read too much into it.

    • Yeh I know tha'ts what I said above Lol

  • I think Gutherson would be a good centre.
  • i'd be pissed too...Hope BA reassures his position in the team.

  • Gutherson wasn't brought here to play five-eighth.

That said, he's done a terrific job with his limited experience and if either Moses or Norms are out, we'll lose nothing with Guth there.

Right now if anything happens to Norman it's season over.
    • True, but he does have ambitions for fullback, and maybe saw five-eighth as the next best thing he might not want to go to centre or wing.

    • Guth said right from the get go he wanted fullback. Happily stepped aside.
Why would he be happy this time!?
  • Guth will be at the eels long term. He's so versatile you would be stupid to let him go. The fact parra brought him across from manly with limited 1st grade experience and coming off an ACL injury says a lot about what parra think of him.
    • Agree mate - it's his versatility that makes him invaluable to us. I reckon that's why we bought him in the first place. He can play every backline position - even halfback at a pinch - and he covers them all pretty well.

As interchange rules evolve over the next few seasons he may well become one of the most sought after benchies in the business :)

    • I hope so, let's just hope he sees himself as that versatile player though, hope he doesn't have the Jack Bird mentality as they are very similar in that regard.
