  • If true this will solve the problem of who misses out in the backline but will damage our premiership campaign overall.

I am a big Grothe fan and last year was probably his most consistent.

I found it surprising that the Japanese hadn't made him an offer yet - I spent a little time over there and they are obssessed with statistics in regard to their rugby, like how fast a guy can do the hundred, figures in the gym etc and Grothes's statistics are right up there with anyones. He will be too big and fast in the Jap comp.

Also his highlights reel would be pretty damn impressive.
  • "heard" it from where?

if true i will be pissed cause he is a key part to our go forward
    • I agree 100% with the "go forward" sentiments. And that is why if it came down to between him and Burt I would choose Guru (only just) because those metres he chews up on the early tackle counts inside our own half are invaluable and Burt just doesn't have the physical attributes to match Guru on this front. Burt has his strengths elsewhere but they are strengths we probably have covered in other guys we've signed up longer term.
      • What about Burts goal kicking? Inu was pretty bad for us against the Gold Coast...
It would be sad to see Grothe go after the last year he had. Plus if he goes then our depth in the backs is very much affected..
        • We have other goal-kicking options in the likes of Inu (with some continuity he is a fine goalkicker, remember when Burt was out in 2007?). Also, KK has kicked goals for us in the top grade. I'm led to believe even Mortimer and Hayne are decent enough kickers.

          And Burt's goal-kicking slipped away in 09 IMO .
          • when the team played good, burts kicking was good. thats the trend that I noticed.
    • tahu will replace him
  • If this rumour is true? dam they are going to miss his hit ups he was absolutley outstanding last year one of the most improved players by a long shot!!
  • I don't think its true, Eric enjoys playing for the eels and is happy at just that, he is a family man who if he leaves the eels, it would only be to spend more time in his band. Cannot see him going to Jap but stranger things have happened.
    • I agree, I reckon it's bullshit. Hope we're right.

"Talagi is still a work in progress. I thought he'd spend more time in Reggies. He may still but I never said he was awful, just needed time. I was also under the impression we had our 6 locked up long term so no big deal if he left. I reckon we will…"

"I did not see anything wrong with Ryles showing interest in Galvin as everybody knew we would be after him. It wouldn't change the Dogs interest in him either way or make them feel the need to go for him harder.
Parra at this stage can only him…"
