Heading to the game yesterday I honestly thought I wouldn't see too many other Parra fans at the game-how wrong I was!! The crowd figure of just over 15k had to be made up of at least 6000 parra fans-all decked out proudly in their parra gear, waving parra flags and even having the kids madly cheering for parra. An amazing sight given the season we've had and that we had upwards of $2.5m sitting on the sidelines. Now compare this crowd number to the melb v roosters game-12,000 and raiders v warriors 9k.My point is this, Parra's following outside of Sydney is phenomenal and the NRL knows it. Greenberg's success or failure as the NRL's CEO will, in my mind, be largely determined by the ultimate success or failure of the action being taken to correct parras admin problems.I don't ascribe to the conspiracy theory that Greenberg has it in for Parra. Why? Firstly and foremost-always back self interest. Greenberg's salary would inevitably have KPIs attached to it around crowd numbers, memberships, merchandise sales and tv audience ratings. He knows it, we know it and the media knows that Parra's success is an essential cog to the nrl's immediate and long term success. The theory that parra fans would support another team if we were kicked out is nothing short of verging on insanity. If you know a North Sydney fan ask them who they go for now and how interested they are in league.Last but not least ask yourself this: how many melbourne, Canberra, titans or most Sydney's teams fans would turn up to an away game interstate with all the cr@p we've had to deal with this year. Take a bow parra fans and do whatever it takes Mr Greenberg to ensure Parra's success becomes your success.

  • Watching on TV I heard the Parra chant a couple of times. Must have been a few of us up there.
  • Proud parra fan right here, turned up with the family from Penrith!
  • I completely agree Alfred.
Many people have fallen for the sacked board's propaganda that the NRL has it in for us/Greenberg is Seward's co-conspirator/the salary cap investigation was unfair/blah blah blah. Those arguments make no commercial sense for the reasons you have outlined above.
Don't forget the sacked board engaged a political specialist/master of spin during the salary cap fiasco.
  • Alfred once again you talk complete sense. I couldn't agree more. You sir, take a bow.
Hearing Max Donnelley speak recently just reminded me how running the Eels is purely a business exercise and making the correct moves is rather obvious. When you remove politics everything becomes easier
  • Here here ,well said
  • I dont subscibe to the conspiracy theory that they want Parra gone, however I will subscribe to the theory that things happen behind the scene to the advantage some and disadvantage others.

When the ARL was run by Manly people, Manly got an advantage.

When Bennett was in charge of Qld, Im sure players where told to sign with the Broncos if they wanted a shot at Origin

Likewise, is it inconceivable that Bozo (a selector) had a hand in Walker getting a call up to origin when no other Footy fan could understand why. Bozo, the same guy who came in at the last minute and did the deal to get Walker to Manly (as good as a TPA)

So I hardly think that all of a sudden Todd is going to be 100% unbiased and not help say the Dogs if given half a chance.

There are still perks that come with the job and theres are deals done every day. Esp by those who have been in power for a long period of time.

Thats why I think Parra fans are the best, because we can see this and still turn up. If Broncos got done their fans would all walk and not come back until they were premiers again. They dont like adversity.

    • I'm pretty sure that if Foran suddenly turns up at the Bulldogs next year, we can safely assume Greenburg had a hand in it.
