Australian rugby league "Immortal" Graeme Langlands has been charged with six counts of indecent dealing with a girl under 16. Vision: Seven News.
It is alleged the offences occurred on the Gold Coast in the early 1980s.
Langlands lives in a nursing home in New South Wales and is suffering from dementia and other health problems.
The former St George Dragons fullback and goal kicker, nicknamed "Changa", represented Australia in 45 Tests.
In 1999, Langlands was given the status of "Immortal", a title bestowed to only eight of rugby league's all-time greats.

The bloke is in a home and has dementia ...how the hell can they charge someone who cannot defend himself due to mental incapacitation?
Dave - you're a lawyer type IIRC. Please advise how this could proceed.
If DPP go ahead with prosecution matter for the court to decide whether he is fit to face charges.
Can someone please modify this title!! It's a police matter so please use the word 'Allegedly'. He's innocent until proven guilty.
Dave change the title to 'alleged'.
Yes, people on this site need to be very careful of pre judging and in turn surmise the type of things that can happen. The circumstances and age of the child will be interesting given the charge is going to be 30 plus years old. I don't like the idea of this being in the media at all, circumstances of this type of situation should have respect for the fact he is in a dementia state. Agree again with Coco that you would imagine all these issues would have been addressed before charging him.
Coco knows this stuff backwards, apparently this was a mention today, so assume he has already been charged......can there be a bench charge from NSW Coco or would he have had to be charged in Qld.
All sorted, I've edited the title and put the AAP article into the blog.
The title is fine. Langlands has been charged with child abuse charges not alleged to have been charged. Whats is alleged is the charges he's been charged with.
You've gotta ask why now though don't you .
